GM should build an AWD Xtreme Blazer with the LS7 and a 4L80E.I'd buy it.

Until that time,I'll stick with the crappy old school AWD beast that I'm shocked *SHOCKED* they even attempted.
ummmm yeah, except the entire S-Series line is now discontinued, so no chance of that happening.

You cant forget that face people make in thier grand sports cars that they spent thier life savings on when you launch like a funny car on them. Thats what its all about for me. Since I live in a racing community so to speak, I get an amazing rep with some good ol fashion pavement pounding and people just flock when I park it somewhere. Yeah its ugly, yeah it rattles, yeah its old, sure, its chick repelant, but it is unique, and like I said, that face, is prceless. I say TY or die.

I wouldn't trade my TY for it either!
The TB SS, is pretty cool, but I'd like to know how many they are going to produce, etc... If I was going to buy a new SUV, it would be the TB SS at this point. maybe trade my RT5.9 Durango for it.

Re: Ty vs. Trailblazer SS

My neighbor just got an silverado ss, and all I have to say is if the tb ss is anything like that thing, I would NEVER do it. It may have a nice throat-y sound, but man, is it a slug when put againt my ty(which is still a fairly "slow" stock ty).

If anything I would look at the jeep srt/12(?), 400 or so hp doesn't sound too shabby. But all in all, I much rather have a classic(10 more years and it'll be official, I think... it's 25years old to be a classic car isn't it?).

The TB SS is nothing like the silverado SS in terms of performance... I've driven both, the TB was waaaay better

The silverado ss was weak. My hemi ram felt faster. And I saved 8k too. just have to wait till Callaway works on it.

Too bad it's not faster. A fat-assed SSS (ext cab, awd) is faster than the lightest Ram (reg cab, 2wd) - even with the "almighty Hemi"! Not a big differece, but the stopwatch don't lie. :)

IMO the SSS is a sporty truck (I own one), while the TBSS is a fast truck (I will own one soon).

Very few guys have enough miles on their TBSS's yet to really unleash them broken-in, but the few that have are exceeding the GM performance estimates already. A 0-60 of 5.3-5.5 (advantage Ty's much lighter weight) and 1/4mi of 13.7-13.9 (advantage TBSS's hp) will make for some very fun-to-watch Ty vs TBSS battles as the Ty launches but the TBSS reels it back in!

Personally, I would love a Ty. I've always wanted one, ever since I first saw one at a car show. I'm amazed that something so "old" can still be nearly untouchable. But as I'm not mechanical at all (want warranty), need a daily driver, and want the 4 doors, luxury and towing capabilities offered the TBSS will be a perfect truck for me.

how is that advantage TBSS??? My typhoon ran a 13.7 99% stock, 68,000 miles on it and a broken intercooler pump?

Without searching for hours the best Ty times I could find were right at or in the very low 14's. Sorry, my mistake. Either way, if the Ty can get the holeshot and the TBSS is even with or a shade quicker in the 1/4 (99% stock TBSS will be mid 13's) it will be a fun catch-up race! I personally would love to watch it. Heck, maybe even participate in one!!!

AWD SS at the dealership - $40K. :2cents: x a lot

It sure is pretty. It was too cold yesterday for a sales person to come out and see if I wanted to drive it. Wife is sold on the Cherokee SRT8. I like the TBSS because of the aftermarket that already exists for the LS* engines. Maybe one will make a trip to the Nats next year.

Unlike the SRT, the SS's can be and are being heavily discounted. Good luck paying even MSRP on the SRT!

Re: Ty vs. Trailblazer SS

I said the dodge felt faster. By the time I raced a SS my ram Had over 400 hp and smoked the ss easy. I wanted the SS but for Less money I got a bigger truck. Chevy did not make a impresive truck for 42k. The following year the price dropped 4k on the SS. Even after the 3000$ in mods it was way cheaper. Glad to see the put a better motor in the SSTB. I want to test drive one. I know a friend at a dealership and said I can get one for about 35K. I will soon have my dream Truck...SY

 theres no reason to search for hours, just click the Timeslip link above. There are only 6 trucks out of 78 that are in the 14's and who knows how many miles are on them or if they were having problems.

If you want to get specific, truck #64 owned by Junior1 ran a 13.455@99.41 and it has 4000 original miles on it and is 100% stock including plug wires and tires.

Holy crap dude, my apologies...again. So if the Ty and TBSS run similar 1/4's but the Ty gets the advantage at launch (unless you want to tell me I'm wrong there too) isn't it safe to say the TBSS is gaining at the end of a 1/4 and will start walking after? My whole point was/is that it will be a fun race. If your stoplights are a block apart advantage Ty. If your backcountry roads are a mile apart advantage TBSS. Fun runs anyway.

Perhaps, but only until it runs across a Ty with a turbo 6.0L ;)

Oh, and I did see one of these the other day at the local Saturday car show. Very cool, but didn't give me the same tingle I get when I see another SyTy.
