Just out of curiousity, is there a copyright issue when it comes to reproducing the SyTy logos? If so, how is it overcome?

Yes, the logos and names (at least in the US) are trademarked and still owned by GM. To be able to use them legally, there's a bit of paperwork and about 2 months worth of waiting for permission.

First, you contact that company that handles all of GM's legal issues/claims, etc. Then, you tell them what GM trademarks/logos you want to use and you have to tell them how they will be used, why you want to use them, etc.

The only way I got permission was for ISTA/MHST use... better known as "Club" use by a non-profit organization. Legally, I can only use the logos for "Club" merchandise/items. Which is why with things like the wanted posters, I charge enough to cover production/shipping costs and have enough to donate back to SyTy.net or SyTyNationals. I don't really make a profit on anything. Just to be safe.

If you're looking to make a profit off of the items with GM's logos, you have to get permission, create sample products, send them to GM (which GM keeps) for quality check/final okay, then they tell you how much to charge and how much of that they get.

It's not too bad, it doesn't cost you anything if you're looking for non-profit use, it just takes time and it's not guaranteed they will say yes. Oh, and everything must include "Used with written permission from General Motors" visible enough to read.

If you want more info, I'll dig up my paper work, procedure info etc.

Back on topic, the plates are pretty cool. If I had money to spend, I'd buy one.

The *BLING* Typhoon intake is on Tom Argue's Ty. There might be pictures floating around on the ISTA CD or one of the FAST websites. Check with Adam or Ian if you *really* want a copy of it. I'm sure they can find one.

Yes... My friend did come over here to the shop on friday and dropped off my plenum. He's got the plate size exactly fit to the top of the plenum and the script worked out for Typhoon.
He's going to take it all to the CNC shop and I'll know later this week how soon I'll have them ready.
It takes a little time as most new things do... It'll be worth the wait.. :)
Thanks... Scott~

Re: Typhoon Engine Plate: New product.

Ok fellas... The tool path is done and it looks AWSOME.

I will have actual product next wed-thrusday. I am having 50 made right now with a 2nd order to follow once I'm half way done with all of these. It's looking like I'm going to be right on budjet with a cost of 59.00. 3.00S&H anywhere in the 50states.

I will post a picture when I bond the first on on my wife's Intake.

You can order them two ways:

One:
Raw.. just as it was CNC'D (Price above)
2 part epoxy included and directions.

Second... I was thinking of having a friend of mine cut me spray mask so I can Base Coat clear coat the lettering only. What ever two colors you want, and polish the top.
I'd epoxy the lettered area and the do Base/clear and bake. I have a down draft paint booth here and a Sikkens mixing system to where I can match any paint code you give me. I'd guess I'd have more material and time for making custom colors and the epoxy, spray mask ect.. It'd still be under 100.00.

You'll have these before Christmas!!!!!!

I'm excited!!!! This is going to be great!

I've got over 20 names right now.

I'll post that picture just as soon as I get it here.
