Hey, I'm new to the board but I just wanted to say a few things. I have always been a huge TY/SY fan and recently have come across the money to buy one. I think that I want a Ty because of the four seat factor... I just had a few questions for you guys. I am looking for one with relatively low miles (50k or less) that is in really good shape; I have seen a large price range but what do you guys think is an average price on one with those miles? I also am hoping to modify it later on and atleast have it run 12's up here (I'm in Denver :-\) so what would be some good starters as far as that goes? Thanks for all the help and I can't wait to learn more about these beasts ;)

1st off, welcome to the board. The price of a Ty that you described with less than 50k or less miles, I would quess-ti-mate anywhere from 13-17k. Just depends on the truck. Read up on all the FAQ's and use the search to find specific things. Alot can be learned from those as far as what to look for and performance mods. Good luck Ty hunting.

Welcome!!!! I agree, $13-17K for a nice Typhoon. Syclone's may be abit less expensive depending on the truck and overall condition.

I had the same decision to make, Sy or Ty, but I ended up with another Sy since I like the pick up styling better and they are more rare. Search around and you'll find a good deal!

As the previous post says, use Search because these guys will beat you down for redundant questions :oops:

Be prepared to travel,and keep a close watch on this board, http://autotrader.com , and ebay for good deals.

One of the best features of this board is that we are nationwide,so someone usually is local to a truck for sale and would probably check it out for you first,before you have to drive/fly out to see it for yourself.

I've seen a 20K Ty go for 15k,and I bought a 52k Ty for 12.5K.The price spread is HUGE,but don't be scared to pay a little bit more for a pristine,unmolested example.

Make sure you get one with no rust,as these trucks tend to rot up north.

Thanks guys. Ya, after I posted I saw a few topics that had people complaining about the newbies not reading the FAQ's and such. So after I posted, I went around and read up on some of the subjects. I do appreciate any help or comments that you guys think are important and I'd be really interested in meeting up with some of you guys if you have meets here in Denver...etc. Like I said in the last post, I'm always willing to learn. :fadein:

Welcome to the board! There is a red/gry Ty in last weeks autotrader from Denver. Open to the exact middle of the mag. I think its going for $13.6k, not much details, but worth a call. Where in Denver you located?

P.S. Will_in_denver is the man when it comes to sy/ty's up here. PM him, he is really cool guy with way to much sy/ty knowledge.

hook up with Will he is a badass when it comes to these trucks. that guy has owned way tomany turbo cars for his own good.

now on to the good stuff I have a black black ready to turn over 47k its lowered it has all the requisite stuff exccept the FP (taylors, conrad, NGKs, 180 t-stat) jsut replaced that the fronst suspension with moog stuff, just installed a new front propshaft and it comes with 3.5 year warranty I have had it about 6 months.

Oh so true. That's why I moved to Denver, to learn from the local Sensei. ;)

Seriously though, we try to have get togethers, but it's hard to schedule to fit everyone. Though, you are in luck, MHST is having a BBQ at DJ's house on the 24th. PM or email me for more info. :) Last BBQ we had a few trucks show up:

i am a newbie from denver too, i dont know as much about sytys as some of the other guys here, but when it comes to finding one, i can help(not as good as will tho) but i do know a couple for sale here, and the red one that was in auto trader is from happy motors on colfax, my dad is dealer and i know ALOT of people in the car buisness,i know them so watch out they are a bitch to deal with, and the ty is missing the originals seats, it has blazer cloth, it a 92, but other than that its clean.


p.s.- could that saleen beat a lightly modified ty, in the 1/4, just wondering cause i want to race one eventually but dont know if its worth the loss :oops:

it was the comp i swear, i live off of c470 and kipling, u can see my house of the high way on the golf course, but i work in denver, and got to school at chatfeild. where u at :)

tight i was uposed to go to chs but i moved like 10 in away, there is some kid who has a ty there, i seen it at carls jr. but i cant figure out who it is.

I think what he was trying to say was:

That is cool, I was going to attend classes at CHS, but I barely moved out of the school zone. I have seen a Ty at a local Carl's Jr. who goes to CHS, but I am unable to figure out who he is.

I have to translate homie to english around here (its suburbia for god's sake! :lol: ) What color Ty? There is a blk/blk a block and a half away from me that I can never seem to meet the owner of.
