UHP A/S tires; what is working well for Typhoons?

I need tires and am going with 245/45-17 on 8" wheels all around. My wheels work with no problems. I'm looking for some current information to help decide on a good Utra High Performance tire for the Typhoon to suit all season driving. Looking for experience, thanks!

Good times!

Re: UHP A/S tires; what is working well for Typhoons?

I have the Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 All Season in the stock size. They do great on dry and wet roads but not as good as I expected in the snow. I can get moving but turning and stopping are definitely issues I have to be aware of when there's snow on the ground. For the most part it only snows a few times in my area during the winter (not last year) so I'm mostly happy with the tire. So if you get snow on a regular basis I wouldn't recommend any All Season radial with the word "Performance" in the title.

Federal EVO's, great tire wet or dry, handle great and ride nice, good wear. I have them on my ty and absolutely love them. I run 255/45/17 on an 8 1/2" rim.

Thanks Icarus-54 and crariley for your info. I do not plan on driving in snow but I drive a lot in the summer doing extensive touring and have had snow in mountains in Aug. before otherwise I would go with summer tires if I was not concerned with snow at all.

I've ran and love the Kuhmo tires in that size.

I think I'm down to General G-Max A/S-3 vs Hankook S1 Noble 2 in my price range...anybody have any experience with one of these? I'm looking on Onlinetires.com where they are both 460-475 for 4 tires.

Thanks for all experience. I love Michelin but just can't afford or justify the new price. I'm replacing checked and rotted BFG's which are done so I'm only looking up.

Good times!

I currently run these on my DD Audi which runs on 18" rims and have found them to be decent and resonably long lasting. That said, thd Audi is a diesel and no where near the performance of the Ty. I have used them in snow twice and they gripped where summer tyres never have. (I live at the bottom of a hill). Not cheap, but I have had the Audi for 14 years and they have lasted longer than any other tire I have fitted to it.

The evo's are not a snow or all season tire, they hp summer tires.

No I don't want to try the Hankooks after seeing a more recent (3 yrs old) test. I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy Michelin pilot sport a/s 3 99Y and be done.

Good times!!

I know these aren't A/S tires but it's the exact size tire I went with and love them on my wagon wheels....not too big and not too small! .... if you would like I can post pics....it's just sitting in my garage right now under its blanket....http://www.amazon.com/Nitto-NT555-High-Performance-Tire/dp/B004QL6QWU

Well I have pulled the trigger on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 99V. I am spending more than I wanted but not too much more for what seems to be a very good tire. I went with the V speed which saved 25$ per tire over the Y (same exact look though). I stuck with the 245/45R17 as my rims are 8". Anybody running this size have pictures? Of course I like to see other sizes too!!

Good times!
