Hi Im Frank and Im looking for a Typhoon. I have a 2000 BMW M5 and its fast, but need to carry boxes and I have 98k on it. I have been looking around and my goal is under50k miles and $14k price. I am not worried about color except red on red. I would prefer black/black, black/silver, white/white, or white/silver. 92 or 93 is ok. Glad to join this board and its great or research... :syty:

Good luck. Just being under 50k doesn't mean it will be reliable. Actually I personally think one driven that little has a better chance of having more issues sometimes (not always).

I would open up the mileage some with the budget your looking at. My 70k mile truck was just as reliable as when it was at 40k. Well that is until I started modifing things.

Re: Trying to be a new member...

Thanks guys! Honestly I can get one as long as its under 100k because of financing. Those numbers are what I prefer, but Honestly I would prefer a Marlboro truck :rotf:
I close on my house the 15th so after that I am set for financing. I also live in san francisco and Im moving the 27th. Driving to Colorado Spring CO then to Dallas. That gives me the option to see one on the way

One thing I have to offer is my knowledge of axles from upgrading jeeps. One of my projects I would love to do is build a limited slip for the front end of the TY. I get a kick from people saying they want a 14bolt in the rear of their TY. My first project is a shaved 12 bolt with 40% lockup.

Re: Trying to be a new member...

Welcome! As far as Marlboros....I think they're all spoken for, and the owners dont wanna let em go. Axles....With the exception of the screaming fast trucks, there doesnt seem to be too big of an issue, but the Gov-Loc limited slip has showed its faults. There has been talk of a LSD for the front, but a few potential problems have been brought up. Good luck with whatever you get, and just a heads up- hope you dont mind a little squeak with your ride:tup:

Re: Trying to be a new member...

Oh that was a joke about the Marlboro truck! I think I have one lined up and Im going to go look at it the 28th. I am trying to sell my M5 before that so I don't have 1K of car payments a month. You guys are always talking about prices for the TY's My Cold Air Intake was $2000 on that car alone! Your lucky

Well I purchased Mandingo's TY a couple of days ago, and drove it from Colorado to The Colony (Dallas) TX. It was a fun drive except about 5 minutes away from home I started burning oil and the turbo was making noise. Well it needs a rebuild now. We would have not know that the turbo had issues because it ran perfectly in colorado. So its getting done tomorrow. Just wanted to give an update and thanks mandingo for the TY! Look up his username for the stats on the TY.

Hope your doing the work yourself. Must learn, and work on these trucks yourself, or else they'll swallow you alive $$$. You think your Beamer's expensive? :rotf: Looks like a nice rig though. It'll all come together in time. Peace.

Re: (Updated!) Trying to be a new member...

I can do the work on it no problem. I am pulling the turbo off of the truck, but the rebuild is being done by a shop that will warranty the rebuild. I have a Dinan M5 so this is much cheaper. My cold air intake for the car was 2K alone! This one is very modded already so I was very lucky. It has every recipt with the truck, every book for it by GM, and was a good price.

So ol Tony finally sold out. I knew he wouldnt make it  Tonys a good guy seriously. We hung out a bit when he first got that truck trying to take care of some little issues. It is a gorgeous truck and super clean. Have fun with it.

Re: (Updated!) Trying to be a new member...

Thanks guys! The housing is fine with no play in the shaft at all. It was just a blown gasket and leaked oil into my intake for some extra smoking... We are also checking on why it could have been damaged. The truck is very clean and as soon as I get my stuff delivered I will have a camera for some pics. Tytilidie Tony was very cool and gave me a good deal on the truck. I was planning on contacting you before I left to meet up, but my financing fiasco made us run over as it was.

P.S. Bryan this this has more buttons in it now than my M5
