Upgraded Camshaft - Flat Nose and Step Nose

Hi Guys,

We just received our 1992 Typhoon engine back from TPIS. I was surprised to see the early style camshaft and timing set. TPIS was unable to idenfity a late (step nose) camshaft for this engines. It seem there are no step nose 4.3L cores for making a custom grind.

For what we are doing with this engine, it would be best to have a step nose camshaft with retainer plate.

What is your experience with this?

I would have though it would have had a step nose. I know others have gotten custom cams with step nose and retainer plates including me. maybe something changed with Comp Cams, not sure.

This may be a question for TPIS.

You have a hydraulic roller cam, right? The definitely is a 4.3 step nose custom blank cam for our engines. Are they using comp cams for a custom cam?

I'm getting through this...

The engine builder chose a cam that was not offered in a step nose. I called Comp Cams and will order a different cam today.

What is the grind on the flat nose cam?

The cam currently installed (and will be removed) is...
210/215 @ 50
112lsa
4 degrees 500 lift

Anyone interested in buying this cam? I can offer the double row timing set with it.
