junk it. The cables typically dont work. Just had the same issue with our supra and the map ecu in the car. I went and got the PCMCIA card instead and all is good. This is the guy where i got mine from,

I had a rat/shack usb to serial for my code 59 applications...it never worked! I spent months trying to get that thing to work, never did and it too came with a cd that had the driver to install for the cable....never worked! I ended up sending my cable to andrew matti ( who I purchased it from) he exchanged my cable for the new usb connection for 25 bucks and it works everytime!

thats why I bought a updated ibm,I will never own a laptop etc without a serial port.

code59 or some other chip?
There's a bug in the stock code that keeps tunerpro from connecting reliably. There's a patch available for non-code59 bins.

I'm using the older Belkin f5u103 usb adapter. You have to get the latest drivers for it to work with code59...

Honestly, this is why I use the Moates stuff almost exclusively. It works on every laptop I've tried it on.
Try setting your belkin to a low Com port number - like less than 3. Then set Tunerpro to the same number.
Serial adapters are hit-and-miss depending on the chip they use to do the conversion. If it doesn't support baud rates outside the "normal" 1200/4800/9600/14400, DM and TP will have problems with them.
