Re: USB to Serial

The one from Radio Shack has an actual driver CD. This is the one I have used for many different things, including BS3 and communicating with PLC's.

Re: USB to Serial

I had a rat/shack usb to serial for my code 59 applications...it never worked! I spent months trying to get that thing to work, never did and it too came with a cd that had the driver to install for the cable....never worked! I ended up sending my cable to andrew matti ( who I purchased it from) he exchanged my cable for the new usb connection for 25 bucks and it works everytime!

code59 or some other chip?

There's a bug in the stock code that keeps tunerpro from connecting reliably. There's a patch available for non-code59 bins.

Re: USB to Serial

I use the Radio Shack unit all the time. Works great. Its rare we get a car on the dyno with a standalone and a serial connection and my USB won't connect. I haven't used it with TunerPro yet though.

Re: USB to Serial

Honestly, this is why I use the Moates stuff almost exclusively. It works on every laptop I've tried it on.

Try setting your belkin to a low Com port number - like less than 3. Then set Tunerpro to the same number.

Serial adapters are hit-and-miss depending on the chip they use to do the conversion. If it doesn't support baud rates outside the "normal" 1200/4800/9600/14400, DM and TP will have problems with them.

Re: USB to Serial

I cant believe it but the dynex one from best buy works good

Belkin driver updates reconfigures the comports on your computer which allows you to match the comport to tunerpro or datamasters comports to make it ping.

Make sure you download the write drivers for your operating system.

Also, Dig is right Moates usb cable is a no brainer, plugs right up without all the extra configurating...
