i put z-max in my honda 300EX. put it in the fuel and the oil. made the thing smoke and made my cluch slip. and that was the small motor, manual tranny zmax.

I don't know about z-max but I use Lucas and I can first hand say it makes a difference. My old job I used to drive from Arkansas to the NorthEast all the time(Jersey, Long Island, etc) and could actually tell a difference in my mileage traveling on the interstate. No B.S. My brother did the same job and used Prolong and could tell a difference also. Not sure of the actual lubrication differences but I figure the only way to get better mileage is less friction. It was the oil stabilizer used with Mobil 1 in my '99 Silverado Z71, would gain about a mile and a half in mileage with Lucas.

For those of you who can read this might be of interest in you.

Talk to a Mobil 1 rep. They don't even recommend the oil filters with the anti-wear friction additives in them due to compatibility issues.

Remember many of the snake oil additives use conventional oil as a base oil which IMO is not the best idea with Mobil 1 synthetic. Supposedly they are compatible.

From data I have seen in our application there is not much better than straight Mobil 1.

I do think their are some good gear oil and trans. additives although they aren't sold at Walmart or on infomercials.

Don, you and Tim had been driving to long. When you drive that long it is called "fuzzy MPG math" :p
