vacuum hose - what brand?

Looking to purchase some bulk vacuum hose. What brand is best? I've seen Baker Precision and Hose Techniques....anything else? Baker only sells a 3.5mm, not 4mm.

Looks like we need the following:

4mm - 15 FT
6mm - 10 FT

Re: vacuum hose - what brand?

Not to hijack the thread, but I had a question about the silicone hose kits. I bought a kit from Summit Racing and I had issues with the lines popping off on various fittings (off the vacuum supply to my BOV from the upper intake manifold, off the EGR solenoid, for instance). It happens when the engine has been running for awhile, the outside temps are hot, and under boost. Right now, I'm running just regular rubber lines. Does this kit not allow that to happen, or is the Summit kit just an inferior kit? Thanks.

Does the summit kit have check valves, and if so, are the correctly installed the right way?

I have never had any complaints or issues with lines popping off in the hundreds of kits sold...

I got the check valves installed correctly (got them from Autozone). I had a rebuild done last November and quickly got a crash-course in how installing the lines the wrong way kept popping a code and CEL. After checking, re-checking, and checking the lines again, I finally discovered that I had a check valve installed backwards. I installed it the right way, cleared the code, and WHAM-O! No more CEL. I'm in southern coastal Georgia, so the summers around here are murder for heat. I wanna dress-up the engine compartment a bit with some color, but I finally got tired of popping lines and went back to rubber lines.

Im gonna ask the obvious, just to rule it out... but you do have the lines tied down with clamps or zipties, right?

Re: vacuum hose - what brand?

I used Corbin clamps before, but had a hard time finding ones small enough. Tried it without and it didn't work, so I'm guessing some type of clamp is a must, regardless of...

Another issue I had was lines around hotter parts of the engine getting soft and collapsing under vacuum. Is that an issue you've heard about or run across?

Yah man. At least use zipties.

The hose getting soft or collapsing is the result of cheapass hose. The hose I get is not...its been oven tested with heat and does not collapse under vac. I have one of the first orig vac kits on my syclone going on, 6-7 years now and its still very pliable and looks brand new. Never had any hose melt or fail under any other typical usage... we are talking probably over 500+ kits

Re: vacuum hose - what brand?

Well, I may just have to get one of your kits, but I'll have to keep my eyes open when you have one in red. I got red MSD plug wires, so I'm going red with the dress-up in the engine bay. I noticed that you posted right now in this run, you're just offering black.

Start up a thread in my forum for red. If I can enough people interested, I can probably get it made. If its only like 2-3 people, they arent going to manufacturer it for me....and they dont keep colors in stock.
