Valve Cover update

I don't know if anyone remembers, but a couple of weeks ago I asked about valve cover options for my Ty. Well, I finished putting new valve covers on my Ty last week (L35 heads with Crane self-guiding roller rockers), and here's the update.
I tried the Edelbrock Elite cast aluminum covers, but the pushrod-end of the rockers just rubbed on the side of the covers. Probably would have been okay with a little grinding, but didn't want to bother.
So, on BG's recommendation, I bought a pair of Vortec plastic valve covers. Believe it or not, they work just fine! No rubbing or hitting, no modifications required. Plus, they look better than the stockers, and are quieter too. Part numbers are available on Jas' web site. BTW, I didn't get the oil filler neck and cap that are listed -- because of the a2a ic, they won't fit. So, I got a cap that fits directly into the cover from NAPA. If anyone is interested, I can post the part number.

That's interesting that they cleared the Cranes with no problem. I tried the Vortec covers with my Comp Cams Pro-Magnum self aligning rockers and they wouldn't even go on all the way. I think it would have taken a double gasket plus some grinding, so I just put the stock covers back.

Bill, I've got the same valve covers on my Ty and the same a2a. I bought the filler neck and cap. I was able to get them to fit by switching them to the other side. I have them on the passenger valve cover instead of the driver's side. The fact the no 2 dequick IC's have the same pipe routing might have something to do with this though. I've got a set of 1.6 roller rockers that I need to install on my truck. I'm not sure if they will fit though. I'll let you know once I get them on there. Need to figure out what's up with my tranny first though. :-(

Later,
