valve stem seals

Is this your bush?
Wouldn't these be ideal valve stem seals for our heads due to the fact it's when GM figured out that they needed to change the crappy design they had been using since the 50's....I'd like to hear input on these and if others have gone with them in Stock Lb4 heads to stop the puff of smoke on start up...or should I be the one to put them in and see how it goes? Let know!

Re: valve stem seals

Viton seals have been out for a LONG time. Have em in every set of heads I have. :dunno:

Re: valve stem seals

These are for 96-98 4.3L not the typical oring and rubber seals that go to our 4.3L heads...I've been told by an older engine re builder that this when they started to get the seals right...notice the part number is not the same as the number mentioned in the previous post.... making all intake and exhaust into umbrella seals.... I'm awaiting Dave p. Response also to this I'd like to hear his thoughts. ...:popcorn2:

I understand what your saying. ...I was just thinking of trying to better the older design and what people have said about the old style and having them not last as long...

And you're not the first....there are dozens of threads on the forums of S10s, K5s, 3rd Gens, Full Size trucks, etc.... outlining this exact thing (fitting pos type seals onto shedder type heads). My point is, measure your bosses and order accordingly. Stem diameter/length/etc...are the same, so it's just a matter of the bosses. Grab a set of dial calipers and then add to cart. No need to cut the bosses as Alex's Parts has .562 pos type seals (if yours measure out to that). Easy peasy.....
