Well no, I was talking about one of the 2 last videos with the white and black typhoon racing. The black typhoon smoked the tires while locking the brakes up and the white one tried to as well.:dunno:

Maybe one of the guys that attended will post the rules about the SyTy Grand Prix...

It was started a coupla years ago for the BIG TICKET ITEM thats donated every year.. Basically you torture your truck by getting points for all the attributes you saw happening.. The person with the most points wins

What you are referring to is this competition..

WOW! I would never torture any of my vehicles like that for points. Especially one that takes alot of time and money to keep in check.

No Guts No Glory !!!

I tortured mine all the time when it ran, and thats the reason I bought the truck.. If I wanted to have a toy to drive like a Honda Civic then I woulda bought a Honda Civic.. To each their own tho.. If its not your cup of tea you aren't required to participate..In all reality, theres really not much different than a normal 1/4mi run here, just except the rapid braking at the end..

I do think its kind of neat however, to see something other than just quarter mile footage from these trucks.. It definitely adds to some dramatic action compared to just run after run down the track.. I'm all for it as long as nobody gets hurt or bends any sheet metal. !

BIG THANKS!

Look for us all again next year!
If I had a week my truck would have been running int he low 15's I think. The Vortec upgrade with headers really made a difference and there was alot left in that GAY teal truck! I will be tuning it this week and trying to figure out the high fuel pressure problem that was causing it to load up.

Anyway, NATS gets better and better for me every year. Eventhough the 9+ hour trip there (should hae taken 4) was a disaster, racing my project truck made it all worth while to be there. It haddn't been over 20mph since I got it back together the Wednesday before NATS. I litteraly backed it off the trailer, tinkered around with it and ran a 16.1 for it's maiden voyage. It's 15's, 14's and possibly a 13 by the time NATS '06 rolls around.

Maybe TEAL is gay, but ya know what?
We've got one and you don't... even if you wanted one.

Other than that...Mine won't be so TEAL in the future. The day it runs a 14 it'll get painted a very interesting color. I am not 100% sure about my choice yet but it'll be better than GM "Bright Teal". I really hate to change a factory rare color but so many other changes have been made to it that I really don't care. I still have the Aspen!

I started it in 04 as a replacement for the previous years contest that involved too much punishment for the driver......

Here are the rules. I've already added some emphasis in some areas since Morgan and Rich have ADD. :)

The cool thing is that KCIR told me they copied it over the past year with the Jr. dragsters and the kids had a great time.

SyTy GRAND PRIX.

This is the contest that will show who is the best of the best in overall truck/driver combination. Brackets will be randomly set up. The rules regarding modifications are simple. It must be originally titled as a Syclone, Typhoon or Sonoma GT. Beyond that anything goes.
Both trucks will be positioned twenty feet from the start line, engines off in park. Contestants will perform a Lemans style start from a designated area. Before the truck can be started all safety equipment must be in place, i.e. safety belts, helmet, and any other required equipment.

Points are awarded for each criteria listed. Most points advances to the next round.

1.First contestant to light both stage and pre-stage lights. (rolling through the pre-stage light doesn’t count BOTH must stay illuminated.) 1 point awarded
NOTE: When both contestants are staged the tree will come down so be ready.

2.Best reaction time. 1 point awarded

3.Best 60-foot time. 1 point awarded

4.Heads up race to the line. 1 point awarded

5.Shortest stopping distance after the finish line. 1 point awarded
NOTE: Braking before the finish line will result in no point awarded for the braking contest. If both drivers brake before the finish line neither will receive a point. In the event of a tie due to this circumstance the best reaction time will be the tie breaker.

Winner advances to next round. Brackets will be made up depending on the number of entries.
