Crunch time on picking a cam & lifters. Given similar grinds what BRAND are folks most happy with. Drag raced Streetable truck hybred turbo, 2800 stall, 60# injs, built trans, probably forgot something.

Choices (at least at this time)

Nolan
Comp
Crain
Lunati
Crower
maybe Isky
Other

Long list, just throwing it out there for general opinions

Machinist recommends Crower lifters. Opinions there?

Thanks all:tup:

Re: Vote on a cam

I actually talked to Alex at Steve Morris. Great conversation. The end result was he was suggesting that I rev the motor to the 6500 range and change shift points. This is farther than I want to go. Although I'm sure it's worth it the price range was a bit on the high end. With all due respect to Alex I've decided, at least at this point in my search, to not go that direction.

Alex said 11's would be easy with his cam and my setup. Although 11's would be fun and a feather in my cap it's not a huge priority. Low to mid 12's with some consistency and reliability are the main requirements. 11's will be frosting on the cake if they happen.

And yes I've been in touch with Nolan as well as most of the others.

Thanks all

Re: Vote on a cam

With all due respect to Nolan, I've decided on a custom grind from Comp. This is different than most grinds I've seen. Which is not a lot I'll admit. I'll put the numbers up later if y'all promises not to give to much static...:rotf:

Re: Vote on a cam

Here ya go

Gross lift, Int .502 ex .484
Duration @ .050 lift: Int 224 ex 230
Timing @ .050
IN Open BTDC 2 IN Close ABDC 42
EX Open BTDC 53 EX Close ATDC -3
Lobe CL 110
Lobe Separation 114

If I did the math correctly overlap is -1

I don't have the specs in front of me but I think this is quite a bit different than a 412, 415, 422

It's just a six

Re: Vote on a cam

I like it!
Should be able to make more power & rev it a bit more.

What cam manufacture did you go with?

I normally go w/Comp Cams & tell them the specs I want to grind the cam to. Never an on the shelf cam.

OK, just read you went with CC:oops: Little slow today.:rotf:

Comp Cams has all kinds of cam grinds in there library of specs, master grind catalog.

Re: Vote on a cam

What is your build specs?

Stock block +.060, 4 bolt center mains done a little differently. There is no step. Eagle rods, SRP pistons, Total Seal rings w/beveled gap. Vortec heads, mildly ported with "venturi" at valve seat. 4 angle valve job. TD06H turbine housing, 11 blade wheel. 85 trim. 60-1 compressor .88 trim (trim numbers may not be correct). Intake modified for Vortec obviously, stock TB, 60# injs, AFPR, Stock IC, 3” exhaust all the way. Cam as above. Crane 1.5 roller rockers. Turbo Tweak chip.

Built trans, 2800 stall. Hopefully that won't have to be changed. Fingers crossed.

MSD 6AL w/2step. 2 line locks.

What did I forget?

I have to say I'm impressed with those pistons. They've been through hell through 2 blocks and look like they were put in yesterday.
