my ty lost fuel preasure but i could hear the pump running.i could also hear fuel splashing in the tank.i pulled the pump out and ran it in a bucket with some gas in it and found the problem .fuel is spraying out of the pump from a small hole next to the outlet tube on top of the pump.does anyone have a walbro laying around that they could look at to tell me if a screw goes there ?its really small and i cant see down in the hole to see any threads.i looked in the tank and searched with a magnet but no screw.i can get a pic if needed . thanks

Think I'm having a similar issue with my Sy's Walbro 255. Here's the deal.. I started up the Sy the other night to get engine moving after its been sitting for a couple weeks. And, my neighbor starts BS'n with me. Bout 5 minutes later I hear the truck stall. So, I cut conversation short, go over to the truck, and try to restart it. And she won't fire as if it ran out of fuel. @&$%!! Though, I noticed the tank was on the low end (1/8 tank) which I hate to do cause of crap on the bottom of tank sucking up into the fuel system. I happened to have 5 gallons of premium in a jug. Poured it in and she came back to life. Maybe the float was sticking?!? Take a ride and she runs strong. However, my pump sounds like its screaming in the tank and sloshing fuel at roughly 1/4 tank. Hard to explain the sound. The whine is definitely louder than the norm. I ordered a new unit for the hell of it. Figured I might as well change the pump if I'm pulling the tank. My Walbro is old and has done my truck right. I'll keep you updated on what I discover when I pull the old pump.

I have a new one, just took a look at it, no screw, but there was something down inside that hole.
It looked like a half of a spring in the center of the hole.

Brought the Sy to my shop this morning. It started and ran onto the trailer. When I got to the shop, I drove it down the road and sure enough she bogged under boost. I made it into my drive and she kicked out. Had time on the lunch hour to pull the tank. Sure enough.. seems like my pump is doing the same.. pushing fuel through the hole. Dont know how it even ran decent the other day, unless I was just experiencing the beginning symptoms of a failing pump: loud whining, fuel sloshing sounds ??? I did find search posts regarding a failing Walbro. Believe it was "extreme whining sound in rear". Dont have the link. Im guessing the guys are right about there being over-pressure or some kind of internal failure forcing fuel thru a relief. Hood, RPM, and plenty others have the pump in stock for 'round $120.

It is possible that the hi pressure valve stays
open and releases the fuel tru the hole i had this
issue on my twin intank fuel pump !!! ;)

That is for the venturi feed on newer trucks, the older trucks don't use it, a nipple typically goes there. Racetronix and others usually modify the pump to utilize that venturi outlet. Why yours just started spraying out of it I don't know. Typically a hose is connected to that and it keeps the fuel bucket full so the pump is always submersed.
