you would be surprised at the offers that I have gotten that need neither engine nor trans work, I am just showing my willingness to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty for the right price.

Glad to hear your willing to get dirty, these trucks need people like you. But the last truck I saw go for seven grand that "didn't need work" is now getting it's badly running motor rebuilt. If they tell you it doesn't need work and thier letting it go for that price, beware. Of course theres always an exception to the rule, I hope that's the truck you find. Either way, welcome to the club.

I joined the club I bougt my Ty for $2000 I needed to rip the motor down and do the head gasket and a valve job on it. Maybe not valve job but while the truck is apart figured might as well do it. Also getting the turbo rebuilt while she is apart. So I have a total of $3500 in her and she will run like a champ!!
