Wanting to buy a Ty... Need help!

Hello everyone. I'm thinking of buying a 93 Typhoon #1409. It's forest green with 92,500 miles. From what I'm told, it's completely stock except for a shift kit. No accidents and it has a clean title. This will be a 2nd car for me as I have an 04 WRX STi. I am just worried about a couple things. Mainly reliablity and parts. Are spare parts available for them if something breaks or needs to be replaced? Can I depend on the truck lasting at least another 50,000 miles with proper care and maintanence?

They are asking for $11,500 for it, but from what I understand, they guy really wants to sell it so I think I can get him down to $9,000. Is that a good deal?

Thanks in advance.

well in concern to reliablity how good of a mechanic are you? or are you pockets really deep? do you intend to beat on it or pamper it? 50,000 shouldn't be hard. sometimes parts are easy sometimes it's a headache. all the sheet metal is standard jimmy.

Where are you located?? I would ask a sy/ty person in your area to go look at it with you as there are alot of little things that they will catch being experienced with these trucks. Good luck

I'm in SoCal. I'd like to hookup with some SyTy people around here. Especially who could go and check the truck out with me.

I have my STi pretty modded which most of my money goes into for mods. So I'd probably keep the Ty somewhat stock. Maybe a couple minor mods. I'd take good care of it. It wouldn't be a beater or anything. I just don't want it breaking down on me a couple of months down the line. I heard they break down a lot and require a lot of maintanence.

After 90K miles, how's the mpg on them?

If anyone could do a carfax on it for me, I would be much appreciated.

Thanks. I saw one in the for sale section too. I'll take my time and hope for the best, hehe.

14-17 mpg! Ouch, that's a hair worse than the STi.

i dont want to get in the middle of any kind of homoeroticism errr whatever the hell those posts were about.... im hoping thats just an inside joke we all know nothing about.

thats a pretty clean lookin ty for that mileage. looks well taken care of. where is it located? 11,500 down to 9 is pretty low ball man. doubtfull if they go for that. id expect the lowest theyd go would be 10 or 10,500. theres some pretty knowledgable guys here in so cal that could help ya out, the only problem is finding someone that has the time to do it. if you cant get someone to go with you, print out the check list on syty.org and make sure you go over everything on there!
