Weldon Fuel Pump 2015 Bearings.

Well as I think I posted, my typhoon came home last sunday on a trailer due to a fuel pump failure. Even after buying a nice Weldon pump (although used but with low hours) it had an issue.

Well it turns out the actual failure is a little bearing in the bottom. Called Jim Craig at Weldon today and he stated if the pumps sit and get moisture the grease in the bearing goes away. Sure enough the lower bearing on my pump was rusty and nasty.

But for future reference if this happens to anybody else the bearing part # is NTN 608Z

There are 2 of them. $2.03 each in stock locally. That little sucker caused me to have to bring it home on the trailer. grrr.

I've been following your build on a few of the boards, and I've had a Weldon in my Sy for 14+ years. Mine doesn't have tons of mileage on it, despite its age, but its always been reliable. I'm pretty sure its the its the only "mechanical" part on my truck that has never given me any trouble. Not that it matters much anymore, as I've recently ripped out the whole fuel system for an upgrade. I guess you know you've gone off the deep end when your Weldon isn't big enough anymore

Weldon knew what was wrong before I even figured it out myself. So I am sure this happens often.

Might save some people some $$ or hassle. Is fairly easy to change out so I plan to have a few spares and plan to change them every couple years.

Not to bag on your variable height cabinet doors, but they don't hold moisture out so well. If you buy spares now, let them sit and install them in two years, chances are they will fail again then.

I'd wait to buy the spares until you are ready to change em out!

Let me explain really slow then for the Kentucky Native.

I plan to store the spares in a sealed container where water can't get to them in the first place. The pump is under the truck where water can get to it, hence why bearings broke.

Local bearing place has a $10 minimum anyways so I have to buy some extras anyways.
