Can be alot of stuff.
1. Bad idle
2. Truck misses
3. Truck stumbles when accelerating
4. Truck leans out under boost, causing knock. Not good.

When the fuel filter on my S-10 got clogged, it was "stumbling" so bad that it wasn't even driveable. If you let it get really bad, it can look like something major is wrong...

Also:

-hard to start, or not start at all
-run for a few seconds after starting then shut off
-shut off while driving

Happened to a friend's S-10 a few weeks ago...

No performance!

I'll tell ya what happened to me, the filter wasent as clogged as this other peoples but i fisrt startted noticing it wouldnt get over 100 miles/hr any more, ( i live in Mexico, lol.) but then what really pissed me off was that a 4 banger/turbo chrysler with 17lbs of boost beatted me. I started inspectin/changin everything step by step until i changged the fuel filter, it reached 124 mph with no sweat and 0/60 like when i fist got it but no for too long. The damn tank had some dirt or something, it took me 3 filters but now is clean :D

Let me be the first to warn you about something else, because this is EXACTLY why my typhoon isnt moving right now.

Along with hard start in the mornings and very bad idle, I started having cutout while driving just this past week... foot on the pedal and the truck would cutout and "pulse" and cutout.... until i took my foot off the gas...

i would sometimes get back throttle repsonse, sometimes it would keep pulsing on me.

No codes, but i changed the fuel filter first...when the cutout didnt stop i swapped the TPS, MAP and new wires... still couldnt get the truck down the road.

Finally got it hooked up on diacom and watched as my 02 volts dropped down to almost nothing when in the throttle... a sign of the truck leaning out and not getting fuel... and the final knife in the back that i have a fuel pump going down.

** WHY HAVING DIACOM AND DATAMASTER IS IMPORTANT TO DIAGNOS **

If your truck has decently high mileage, you may want to consider changing your pump and upgrading to a walbro 255.

If you have done so already, you may have a clog AFTER the fuel filter. If thats the case, you may want to consider running a fuel cleaner or additive such as xylene to help move crud out of the lines and injectors.
