Almost everything same as me except tryn to figure out how to do trans temp,

Curious why you bypassed heater core?

I bypassed the heater core because it started to drip and I said screw it I dont want to deal with it. I dont plan on driving it during the winter anyway

Trans temp is eeeeeasy. It's got 3 wires, ground, ignition, then the sending unit goes here:

Take this plug out, I think it was an 11mm bolt and screw in the sending unit into it. Its a perfect fit size and thread wise. Then just route the sending wire down the firewall away from the steering shaft and exhaust.

I used that spot on my 2 LT1 cars without issues for many years.

did the thermostat first time today, WOW he had a 195 degree in it! no wonder i couldnt get my temps down! and stuck closed to boot. and the truck is from AZ, whats he thinking?

anyways put 160 degree in it, IA Temps dropped to a steady 110-115F from 160-170F at idle. and wow what a difference, i guess the heat was giving me the stalling effect after all! was a fun ride home today!

Took the truck to a car show yesterday. Brought home a 5th place trophy. I know it was only 5th, but my son was excited. ;) When registering the truck and deciding what class to put it in the guy asked me what I had. Told him it was a GMC Syclone. He said "Whats that?"

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Finally got mine road-worthy after being down for 4 months. It was a crank, no-start issue that with my daughter visiting for the summer and work just took me that long to track it down. It was the ignition switch that I had to replace and she started up. I also had to track down no oil pressure reading on the gauge along with the CHECK GAUGES light. The plastic portion on the oil pressure switch had been knocked from the nut portion (probably by the shop I took it to when it initially went kaput and it being close to the dizzy, they boogered it up! ) Anyway, after replacing that and checking fluids, fired her up and put about 25 miles on her today. God, I missed driving that truck! :D Had some dribbles of oil so checked the oil pressure switch and had to torque it up a little more. No more dribbles! Waiting for her to cool down before I put the cover on her again for the night.

BTW, SyTy Jim said I was speeding on post as I went past him, but the way I see it, if the MPs didn't see it then I didn't do it! LOL

Yahoooo!! After countless delays, only a few of which were anything to do with the truck, I'm on-the-road-again as they say. Truck sounds good, no leaks, runs well. Track is open tomorrow so will make a pass or two but I'm just pleased that this thing is running again. Dang it's nice to be back driving the beast.

I finished putting the replacement walbro in the tank. I also foolishly spent 2 hours wire wheeling the rust off of the tank and straps, going overboard so that they would look nice. The truck was only apart for about a week or so, but in that time I forgot that there is a cover over the fuel tank. At least I know that the tank and the straps look good under that cover. Just have to button some stuff up under the hood, and I should be back on the road.

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

finally replaced fuel pump. started up and fuel rail leaked. pulled upper intake off and tried to fix rail, no luck. pulled out a vintage 1994 alarm system with 11 relays. cleaned all pcs from the intake. reinstalled the interior and conditioned the leather and armor all'd the interior. tapped the stripped center cap bolt for the wheel and barely got it tight before the rain. shewwww, and i still havent put a single mile on it.

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Well I finally figured out what the hell had been plaguing me for so long. I decided to today to tackle the gremlins that I had been neglecting for months. My friend ended up saying he heard a slight noise near the T/B so started feeling around and finally put his finger on the Idle Air Control Valve. I took the T/B off and unscrewed the sensor to find out that the screw inside the sensor (had a spring with a screw in the middle) was stripped and it shot me in the face when I took it off. So glad to finally have a truck that doesn't miss everytime I take off from a stop and idles smooth now.... It only took me 5 months to solve this problem!
