I just realized how many users on here registered in 09' ... lots of Sy/Tys sold in the BAD market ... that confuses me ---

I FINALLY started putting it all back together:D

A special Thank You to WARMPANCAKES for helping me out with the parts I needed to make the progess I did today. Without his help, I woulda been stuck watching music videos all day instead of getting to work on the truck. :tup:

Tired of seeing the cover on the TT Ty all winter...I did a hood latch project. I purchased the following hood latch kit from DeftRacing.com. It is made by AeroCatch.

I did some modifications to the pin setup so that it worked in the original location and used the original hood adjusters. I had my fabricator make a billet collar that fit inside my two piece hood because I had no way to put nuts on the screws from underneath (because of the two piece hood). Pic shows the billet collar with tapped threads for the screws. The pic also shows the way we drilled the center out of the rubber hood adjuster to run the locking latch stud through.

We used the metal lathe to get the hole in the adjuster centered for the rod. Leaving the holes smaller than the threaded rod allowed the rod to be tightly screwed into the rubber hood adjuster. I also polished the anodized rod for a cleaner look. The latch stud extends through the bottom of the upper core channel and a locking nut holds it in place.

After cutting the hole in the top piece of the hood we slid in the billet ring and taped it into the underside of the hood. After setting the latch assembly into the hole we ran the screws down into the billet ring to secure the latch assembly to the hood (sandwhich effect)....

Because of the two piece hood design we were able to place the hood latch assembly into the molded hood brace for a hidden look. It also allowed us to place it so the hole was where the original pad (dimple) was for the original hood adjuster contact, for a clean and hidden look...

I was a little nervous seeing the edges of my hood flapping at 140+ mph last year. This should take care of any hood latch problems.

Now back to looking at the cover for a few more weeks...

Drove mine around for a day, then realized after I got home that the turbo coolant return line is leaking. Just in time for spring **sigh** :roll:

i spent 7 hours cleaning up my frame, suspension, and basically everything on the bottom of my ty, spraying it with rust converter, and i might undercoat it tomorrow when its dry, but it looks way way better

In the last week or so:
removed and modded spindles for f-body brackets, then painted
painted caliper brackets(rustoleum black hammered finish) looks really sweet f/r
fine-wire wheeled calipers
received drilled/slotted rotors f/r & ceramic pads
removed abs unit - have Rob's blingy kit
removed cruise
removed steering shaft - bought jeep shaft here
removed remote oil filter setup- wix 51040 filter clears stock propshaft
changed oil
bought new ball joints
bought rear axle seals for conversion
installed grill top block-off
sent chip to Hood for massaging
waiting for front caliper brackets and rear e-brake brackets from Renz. I really wish people would pay him already.

Last month or so:
triple pillar pod w/ vac./boost, electronic fuel pressure w/ that cool 4an swivel 90 degree fitting & braided line and plx wideband wired for both wideband and to simulate narrowband. Mounted in glove box.

That's it for now...Jim

I installed a 2800 converter today, ghetto rigged a cold air intake and then drove it. I did my first boost launch in about 5 years. It felt good.

Well, the last time it ran was Sept. 19th. Since then I've replaced every f'n hose on this thing (that was expensive...damn:(). Cap, rotor, plugs, wires, powder coated the CAC and upper intake, water neck and lower intake brackets, replaced the stock IC lines, new Johnson IC pump, polished up the TB (with new Typhoon plate) along with alot of underhood cleaning and polishing......

Was going to pull the heads but just pull the intake.

Had 3 lifter came apart, missing 1 spring and 3 locks for the lifters. I am hoping they are in the pan, if not, then got to build a new bottom end.

Install some roller rockers, replace 3 lifters and one bent pushrod.

Got a speading ticket! Cop told me it was an expensive 200 yards and laughed. He was clearly checkin the Typhoon out as he was walking away:lol:

i got a 3 gauge pod for my a pillar, and then took the a pillar trim off a blazer and made it all work together and look nice, (took alot more work than i thought it would) letting the paint try now. I also bought a boost gauge, i need to get a transmission temp gauge but no one around here has one for sale that ive found yet...

I took the trim off the bottom of the dash and removed the ecm in preparation for the work to be done to that in the next few days, and i also did an oil change (no metal, woo!) at 52672 (for me to remember when to do it next, lol)

I also hooked my laptop up to it and made a few runs to see how it was doing for knock retard, cant wait to get rid of this overboost...
