What do I hook to this end of my DM cable?! ---

I got a DM cable/box from someone here on the board and there are open wires on one end (dark gray wire). What do I connect to this end? Where do I get that extra peice? I cant wait to try DM ASAP, Thanks ---

Where is the ALDL connector?
Besides that, I believe you need DC power, usually from the cig. lighter.

WTF is That?

The open wires( if only two) have to be soldered into the bac of the ALDL port A&B I think.

or just shove them in the holes of the aldl port / solder pegs onto the cables so the slide in easily

I connected them to the ALDL wires with t-taps. I pulled the ALDL down to gain access to the two wires on the right of the ALDL and put things back together.

If I buy this ^^^^^^^ is that ALL I need (usb to computer, ALDL under the dash, and my Datamaster that I downloaded for free? ) does the USB get power from the laptop? .... thanks guys....sorry for the ignorance, that damn box had me confused from the second I purchased it ---

Dude, sorry for being an airhead....but what is the SHIZNAT, and what paper instructions are you talking about. I got my unit from Quick Storm (with the box)....thanks ---

ps I just figured out this box is a PPI TYPHOON box, and he posted instructions on how to hook it up in another thread ---

I'm glad you figured that out.. I was just about to point you there.. Just FYI I have had that box for years and it works flawlessly...

#1 I bought 500.00 worth of stuff from Moates.com and had problems connecting even with the patcher.....
#2 I fought with ALDL problems for a year
#3 even sent my stuff back to moates for a check ."A OK" WTF it still doesn't work on the truck.

Saw a post about this unit and ordered one it was here in two days:tup:

came in a box w/ cable and print out...I read and followed them 123 boom done:tup:

Worked the first time I used it:tup:

The money spent < -VS- FRUSTRATION You diside!

So that cable doesnt need a power supply right? Weird how some do and some dont, lol ... I think that is the most confusing part to me.... it must get the power from the USB port on the laptop ---

Did you see this? Have you searched PPI's old "started threads"?

And yes, this splices into the ALDL wires A and M, A being ground and M being serial data. I intentionally did a red/black wire so that it's obvoius about the connections. Black=ground, Red=data. You route the wire and can keep the box in your glove box. Then you just hook up that box to your serial port on your computer. If you want, you can use a serial cable to extend your length (I might be able to include this in the kit if I can find them cheap enough).

i just ordered that cable...how much power does it use from the laptop...is it going to die a lot sooner?
