Wondering what the technical differences are? Would it do any harm to use an oil filter on a remote adapter you have connected to the transmission?

I had one on my Ty for a while for the trans temp gauge, no problems with it. I actually still got it if you want it. I don't have the temp gauge anymore, but I still have the remote adapter for it.

Are there specific spin on oil filters and spin on transmission filters?

Well to have fun with this because I don't want to pass it up really . 1 filters oil and the other 1 filters transmission fluid. But really, in most cases they used a Fram PH8A / HP1 or equivalent oil filter.

So if you get 1 with this filter you can tell everyone that you have ASTON MARTIN parts on your truck or if you don't like saying that you can tell them that you have HEMI parts on your truck :rotf:.

yes there are spin on oil and spin on transmission filters. I know the trans filters shells can handle more pressure than an oil filter but i am unaware of the element differences.

If I recalled correctly, there is not that much pressure going to the cooler. I do know that most after market remote transmission filters use the filter that I listed above . The other filters that are used are these listed on the right side.

Excellent post -was thinking the same thing only I tapped the remote oil housing for these trucks for a NPT fitting and was going to use that since going to a spin on oil filter on the block.

When looking in Summit under trans filter and coolers they did seem to have something specifically for transmissions, but not sure if it is for pressure or a finer micron filter element??
