AC Delco filters only, for me. Wal Mart used to carry them, not anymore around these parts. However, AutoZone carries them..

Matt why dont you use MANN ?
If has 4 holes not 8 and its shorter. Is this the reason ?

I've heard good things about pro-tec, but when they are out I do get MANN (yelow box right?). Do you think MANN is better?

Moroso, it has a high burst pressure, so you shouldn't have to worry about it when the oil bypass valves are removed.

Edit: FWIW, I think these offer the best protection, but at a high initial expense. http://www.cantonracing.com/spin-on.cfm

I'll be switching to this when I get the motor back together this time around.

Truckless. For now.
Mobile 1 Here. In the other cars I've owned, it's always been Delco. So far I'm happy with the Mobil 1.

Only problem I see is that now Mobil 1 M1-201 is $12.00 per filter at almost every place you can find online.... Seeing as people like myself (remote area, college) don't have a local autozone to purchase them from I usually order 6-8 filters at a time... add in shipping and you're looking at $80+ for mobil filters..... Thinking I might switch to Purolator pure one.. Only $6 each online... however, I'm not sure how well they hold up under cold start conditions :-? Not really sure what I'm going to do but I need to make an order soon...

I use...

I use...

Mobil 1.

Always fill it before I put it on too, and a little around the gasket for a nice seal.

i've run PUr-one's for about a year in my S-blaze, and i haven't noticed any cold start problems. I've got one on now, and i'm too broke to buy a beater so the trucks getting driven all winter :( btw, a lot of major chain stores carry them, advance auto and others, if you can find them there they'll be a little cheaper

Alaska = no mobil filters locally ;) Unless you want to pay something like $17-$20 per filter from some specialty shop... that is "if" they happen to have it :-? No advanced auto... Only schucks and napa.... schucks doesn't carry em.. napa doesn't either from what I remember.. looked couple years ago... Last time anyone local carried the Mobil 1 filter was when Kmart stocked them like 3 years ago.... :-?

Anyone ever contimplated adapting a centrafuge into a auto application? They're typically used on large oil volume engines such as large drills. They use oil pressure they create to run, so there's no lost horse power! Only prob is they aren't practical b/c of the low run time and on and off of the engine. Extremely efficient, upto .001 microns I seem to remember. Just thinkin outloud

frams are junk. I saw one cut up too. I use mobil 1. they say they're better if you use synthetic. what store sells em for 6.5? I get mine at autozone and get the oil at walmart. sometimes u can find it in the big jugs which saves a little. still think the trick is to change often and not do any of this 4000 miles stuff.

hey party guy. is that time on the bottom of your reply what you're running? wow. tell us guys that don't know u a little about your ride. where you from. I thought the hoovers were top dog AWD at 10.49, but there seems to be a new mark now. congrats!!! I'm at 10.7's and going to a new Q trim turbo this year. stokes told me it wuld make almost another hundred horses.

I got one question for u. How you keep a tranny in? you doin a 400. tried lookin at your wevbsite but can't get in.

did any of us that are usin the mobil filters think about any way of getting together on a groug purchase direct from mobil? If we got some of the buick guys in maybe we could get cost. maybe it not worth it, but maybe...

I do believe that MANN is not good for us just because of these reasons
If you ever have problems finding the one you want go and buy from OPEL
an oil filter for the 1600cc diesel engine. It the same with better flow from MANN,it has 8 holes for flow
By the way where are you located ? I plan to stay in Germany for 10 days
I ll go on the 6th of december with a Sprider to get some spare parts for trucks
