I bought my Sy with 77k a year and a half ago. 50k later, I still love it. It's had its problems, but most of it is standard S-10 parts that are going to give you problems on any vehicle with 100k. Alternator, water pump, fuel pump, ball joints, tires, brake pads, heater core. The forward sprag in the tranny just went a few thousand miles ago. Other than not being able to start in OD, it still ran good and shifted firm even. I even drove it through the winter.
In case you didn't know this, SyTy's have a rated towing capacity of 0. Zip, zilch, nada, zero. So if you need to pull a trailer a lot, you'll probably want the L.
If you don't mind doing a bit more maintenance work, SyTy's are a blast. In stock form, I'd go so far as to say they're relatively reliable. Maybe not always as fast as they could be, but they'll still get you there. Realize that no matter how low the odometer is, they're still 10 years old now. Some of the parts are going to be worn out simply from age. Plan to spend some money on little things (and a few not-so-little things) along the way...
