Im not sure what I want. I always wanted an L since they came out, but now I see what Syclones are capable of. I dont know if I could go back to driving a mini or not. Just want to know if the syclones are hard to mod, and which would be better for a daily drivin' low 12 high 11 sec truck.
Thanks

Worry-free daily driving, honestly, get the Lightning. I drive my Syclone daily and I always seem to be fixing something. But then again I LOVE the Sy. It kicks the crap out of most Lightnings. It handles very well and I like driving the smaller truck. The Sy is also very unique and rare, and therefore in my mind, more special.

I like my L. It's reasonably fast, handles well, stops well, and it's pretty comfortable. If you get one you can probably still get a warranty too. Downside(s) - They seem to be everywhere anymore and they DRINK gas! I average 13mpg, but I do have fun with it. Oh yeah, when you want to, the L's WILL lay down one hell of a shot! :D Not that I have ever done that.

I bought my Sy new and have had sooooo much fun in that damn thing! Sure they can be a PITA sometimes, ignition mostly for me, but when they're running right, (seemingly) nothing can touch them from a red light! I'm 6'4"/250, so it is a little tight inside, but I just use it for fun. No long distance trips in it for me. Otherwise, I really doubt it is good for the AWD to be laying smokey holeshots, so I don't make a habit out of it. Another good point, I can't remember the last time I saw another Syclone? Occasionally I see a Typhoon, but not very often either. I really like the rarity of the vehicle and have no plans of selling anytime soon.

My L I bought to use, abuse, and unload for the next thing that comes down the line. Maybe a Ram SRT10? Nah! Probably the next Gen Lightning. Rumors of a 450-500hp 32V Twin Screw S/C 5.4, with a warranty, sounds like some fun to me! :D Time will tell.

Safe to say the Sy is my favorite.JMHO

I tried to daily drive my TY this summer. Didn't work. When ever I needed it something would always break. Plus you have to really keep up on the maintence or you truck will go down the toilet really fast. A good friend of mine has a 98 Lightning. It makes a much better daily driver IMO. Hope that helps.

I bought my Sy with 77k a year and a half ago. 50k later, I still love it. It's had its problems, but most of it is standard S-10 parts that are going to give you problems on any vehicle with 100k. Alternator, water pump, fuel pump, ball joints, tires, brake pads, heater core. The forward sprag in the tranny just went a few thousand miles ago. Other than not being able to start in OD, it still ran good and shifted firm even. I even drove it through the winter.

In case you didn't know this, SyTy's have a rated towing capacity of 0. Zip, zilch, nada, zero. So if you need to pull a trailer a lot, you'll probably want the L.

If you don't mind doing a bit more maintenance work, SyTy's are a blast. In stock form, I'd go so far as to say they're relatively reliable. Maybe not always as fast as they could be, but they'll still get you there. Realize that no matter how low the odometer is, they're still 10 years old now. Some of the parts are going to be worn out simply from age. Plan to spend some money on little things (and a few not-so-little things) along the way...
