Whatever happened to SY 747 ?

This truck was pretty close to where I live, it sold about a year ago. It was #747 and went to Macon, Georgia - or somewhere around there. Just wondering if anybody on here wound up with it.

HHHuumm I live about 45 mins away from macon. Was the guy on the board that bought it?

Re: Whatever happened to SY 747 ?

I am not sure if the new owner is a member or not. It had stock wheels, painted cladding, and was missing the GMC truck decal on the tailgate. From the best I remember it was pretty close to stock.

Havent seen it or even hear of people talking about it. I have alot of friends that live in macon.

Re: Whatever happened to SY 747 ?

I am not 100% sure it went to Macon, that is just what I heard around where I live from a couple different people. It was kinda hacked up body wise.

Re: Whatever happened to SY 747 ?

Uh oh... "hacked up" isn't what I needed to hear. I bought this truck sight unseen yesterday. I'm in PA and the truck is in south TN. I guess I'll find out next week. It looks good in the pics. Autocheck said light RF damage and the seller said most of the paint was original. I'll probably put the cladding back to it's correct finish.

Anybody know anything more about it?

Where at in Southern TN? If you need someone local to look at it, there's a few of us down here.

There used to be a Sy with the "ragtop"conversion in Macon. Same truck?

I've got pics on the home PC, will upload tonight.

Re: Whatever happened to SY 747 ?

Lawrenceburg actually isn't too far. Maybe 30-45 minutes. Let me know if you want someone to physically see the truck in person. I'd be down for a quick road trip down there.

Re: Whatever happened to SY 747 ?

Went and looked at this truck this morning.
Have spoken with Thad to make sure that it would be cool to post what I found, so here we go!

Like he mentioned above, the truck is for sale at:
Williams Auto Sales
802 N. Locust Ave.
Lawrenceburg, TN 38464
931-762-9525

91 Syclone 1GDCT14Z1M8800747

Wheels are in good shape with the key lock!
Tires are so-so. Kumho's just like I have on my Ty, but they look a little dry. Not the best but by far not the worst condition either. Plenty of tread left on them.

Interior:
Oil Pressure Gauge isn't working at all.
Center console hinge is broken and the top is crushed
Passenger seatbelt doesn't work
Aftermarket stereo
Dash is missing a bolt or two near the glovebox and that entire section of the dash is wobbly.
Lumbar pump from the drivers seat is sitting in the glovebox.
No documentation at all for the truck except for an appraisal sheet that was done in 1997.
No original keys or keyfob.

Motor / Exhaust / Etc
Oil cap is gone and replaced with a filter
Original airbox is gone. Original tube, but just a cone filter on the end of it.
Vacuum line for the cruise control is completely gone
Appears to be original wires and vacuum lines
Exhaust redone on it. Pictures to follow.

The transmission shifts 1-2 like a Prius.

According to the guy at the dealership, he *thinks* that the hood and front 1/4 panel on the drivers side has been replaced...Actually, it looks as if the entire drivers side has been repainted, and poorly at that. You can really see it when you look at the cladding wheel arch on the bed of the truck...Looks as if when it was repainted, it was just taped off. It's pretty bad. Obviously as well the cladding has been repainted. Cladding is also missing tabs in several places and in other places has been secured back on with whatever bolts could be found.

Driving the truck, the vacuum issue is def noticeable. When sitting in drive while on the brakes, the brakes pulsate as the RPM's go from 1100-1500-1100-1500 etc. I didn't launch the truck, but I did put it in neutral and rev'd it up...some smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Put the truck into drive and rev'd it and at 5psi the the brakes weren't holding at all. When out on the main street, I gassed it to get into the other lane and yeah, it moved, but it just felt wrong...

The bed of the truck still has the Do Not Tow sticker and has some various scratches in it.

I am sure there are quite a few things I am missing...I just got into work and wanted to throw this up real quick, so any questions, feel free to post them up and if I remember or looked, I can update.

Overall, it's a project truck.

I have reached my limit on attachments. :D

I don't know if these vids will work because they are on my facebook, but they are just quick videos and not missing much if you can't view them. If they don't work, let me know and I can just upload them to YouTube. The longest one is like 45 seconds.

Re: Whatever happened to SY 747 ?

BTW, on a positive note, the rust on the truck is very very minimal. Only a very small bit of surface rust under the doors.

3 more.
BTW, the SYCLONE windshield banner is faded and about 6 different colors and is lightly peeling.

Rebuilt/Reconstructed Title
A Rebuilt/Reconstructed vehicle is a salvage vehicle that has been repaired and restored to operation. These vehicles are often severely damaged before they are rebuilt and refurbished parts are typically used during reconstruction. In most states, an inspection of the vehicle is required before the vehicle is allowed to return to the road.
Manufacturer Buyback or Lemon Title
A DMV or a state agency marks an official document or issues a Manufacturer Buyback/Lemon title when a vehicle has been repurchased by the manufacturer. Not all states issue manufacturer buyback titles and the specific requirements for a lemon law vehicle varies by state.
Odometer Rollback
If a more recent odometer reading is less than an older reading, then the odometer may have been tampered with and "rolled back".
Manufacturer Recall
Automobile manufacturers issue recall notices to inform owners of car defects that have come to the manufacturer's attention. Recalls also suggest improvements that can be made to improve the safety of a particular vehicle. Most manufacturer recalls can be repaired at no cost to you.
Basic Warranty
Most manufacturers offer a basic warranty for new vehicles. These warranties vary by manufacturer and typically last for a certain amount of time and/or a set number of miles.
Not Actual Mileage Title
When the seller certifies, under the Federal Odometer Act, that the odometer reading does not reflect the vehicle's actual mileage. This may occur because the odometer was tampered with, broken, or replaced.
Junk Title
A Junk Title is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds ~ 75% of its pre-damage value. This damage threshold may vary by state. The majority of states use this title to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again. Some states treat Junk titles the same as Salvage.
Loss Due To Fire Title
The vehicle sustained major damage due to fire. In most states, fire damage titles are issued when the cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation exceeds its fair market value.
Exceeds Mechanical Limits Title
A vehicle with a 5-digit odometer cannot accurately track mileage after 99,999 miles because the odometer rolls over. This title is the result of a seller certifying under the Federal Odometer Act, that the odometer reading EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS of the odometer.
Structural / Frame Damage
In most cases, a vehicle is inspected for structural or frame damage, depending on the body design, after an accident or other incident. All levels of accidents from minor to severe can cause structural / frame damage and in most cases it can be repaired.
Airbag Deployment
Occurs when the driver, passenger or side airbag has been used or deployed during a crash or other incident. If an airbag has been deployed, it must be replaced by a qualified technician. Have this car inspected by a mechanic prior to purchase.
Salvage Title
A Salvage Title is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds ~ 75% of its pre-damage value. This damage threshold may vary by state. Some states treat Junk titles the same as Salvage but the majority use this title to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again in that state. The following eleven States also use Salvage titles to identify stolen vehicles - AZ, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, NJ, NM, NY, OK and OR.
Total Loss
An insurance or fleet company declares a vehicle a total loss when a claim exceeds ~ 75% of its pre-damage value or if the vehicle is stolen and not recovered. This damage threshold varies by company. These companies typically take possession and obtain the title. Not all total loss vehicles result in a DMV-reported branded title, like a Salvage or Junk title. See the glossary for more information.
Accident / Damage Indicator
Various events could indicate an accident or damage in a vehicle's history, such as: salvage auction, fire damage, police-reported accident, crash test vehicle, damage disclosure, collision repair facility and automotive recycler records. See the glossary for more information.
Hail Damage Title
The vehicle sustained major damage due to hail. In most states, hail damage titles are issued when the cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation exceeds its fair market value.
Flood Damage Title
States issue flood titles when a vehicle has been in a flood or has received extensive water damage.
