What's it feel like to have a fast truck?

Mephisto

These trucks are cursed
whats it feel like to go down the track in 10.xx seconds? or hell even 11's?

is it the same as being in a slower truck, but the g's last longer? ya know like launching and youre still stuck in the seat till maybe the 1/8th mile?

as sad as it is, my truck is faster in the 1/4mi than any of my friends cars. and even if i knew someone with a 10sec car/truck, you cant ride along at the track anyway.

Well I'll probably be the slowest person to answer, and I've never run the 1/4,but I have been 7.68 @ 90 with a 1.69 60' in the 1/8th,which my calculator says is 11.90 something.

The track is cool and all,but what I really like is the 0-60's in the 3's on Main Street. There's really nothing much on the road that you can't rape between the stoplights :D

Funny, I always wondered the same thing. My truck runs a high 12 and it felt quick when I first got it but now I want it to go faster. It just doesn't thrill me as much as it used to.

My low 11 second passes - best description I ever had - you know the feeling you get when you launch hard.... in a fast truck, that feeling remains all the way down the track.

John Gerber gave me and my friends a ride in his awesome Ty out on a back road, at the time it ran 11.4 and weighed 4300lb+ w/o people in it...

It took off like crazy and really pulled you back into the seat, that Ty had so much power it felt like all 4 tires were spinning after launching. In no time flat when i glanced over at the spedometer is was pegged beyond the 120mph indicator.

That was the must fun ride i've ever been in!

Thanks John for the ride!!! :D

If you, or any of you wants, just stop by on a nice day and we'll go for a thrash! Even if it's hot outside, don't worry - my A/C still works! Only catch - YOU buy the C16! :p A local place sells 5 gallon cans for $48, and I'll need two of them so that I can launch with boost. We wouldn't want the fuel to slosh away from the FP pickup.

Otherwise, *when everything is working right*, it feels great! Basically untouchable. At least so far. :D

want to know the comparison between 12.20 and 10.30? there isn't any. 12 sceconds feels fast and launches well, low 10 can be scary and a little dangerous if the traction isn't there. it sounds differen t and just pulls way harder. passenger is even more intense cause you're not in control. when the guys had the northeast thing I took ours and actually offered to give guys rides. we pulled a couple of baby launches with mark christofferson and lenny rowlands who both thought if was pretty cool. thought it was pretty cool. ask them how it felt cause they actually got to find out.

I had a ride in Sytynut truck in low boost (I think it mid 11's that way) The oddest sensation was his truck fighting for traction in 1st and into 2nd, but it was still planting me in the seat... I don't think it was much faster in 1st hear than a 12 sec syty, but the bigger turbo trucks haul ass past 60 when the stock turbo 'let up'

I consider my truck kinda slow in the grand scheme of vehicles that go down the drag strip (on the street its a dif story  ).

Anyway I like the launch the most myself. After that its just a matter of driving straight for 1320ft. Ive actually waved at ppl I knew that were sitting in the stands at a local track just out of boredom during a run. Its deffinately a different feeling than my old chevelle that was BBC, 5 spd (doug nash), etc that you had to actually drive/fight to keep it straight. I never took that car to the track but if I hadda guess Id say it was a low 11/high 10 sec car.

To sum it up driving a relatively slow sy like mine is a little uneventful IMO other than the kick in the pants on the launch.

race or get outta the way
well before the tranny went...

the thing i found to be the biggest difference going from high 12's to 11.9 was that the 1-2 and the 2-3 shifts could best be described as an amusement ride.

besides at the track you are really wot, whereas on the street you have to get off it so quick to avoid anythng, referring to safety and the law.

one other thing is that when one wheel comes off the ground you cant tell as it comes down grradually thru the run.

BUt if you are lifting one off the ground and you let off it, you get pushed around a bit, like helmet hitting seat back.

Where I noticed it in my Typhoon - going from running 13.0's to running low 12's high 11's - was 3rd gear when the converter locked up.

It really started to hustle - and things started to happen fairly fast.

But after you run a few times you start to get used to it.

The launches in a fast Sy/Ty are just violent. In the drivers seat - you know its coming - in the passenger seat - whole different feeling.

I went 10.71@137 in the GT-R . And it was fast , the gears go really quick , but with shifts you are a little more occupied.... I was mostly just watching the tach swing quickly from about 4000 - 8000 rpms , and shifting.

My first run at the 2002 Nats was pretty interesting, it was my first pass ever with the new set up, my previous best with the stock motor was 13.1 @ 100 then 11.67 @ 123, the best MPH is 125 that was pretty scary, when all the gears feel the same I'd say you're pretty fast  Hoping for some new runs soon...

the best feeling to me is being able to feel the same G-force on ur face and chest the whole way down the track! it never lets up! ive driven several mustangs and Z28s that feel good when you launch but as u go on down the track they seemed to slack off. thats the coolest thing bout our truck bc launch through 1st, 2nd and 3rd its the same feeling. its like i struggle to move my arm to shift from 2nd to 3rd. AWSOME. ADRENALINE RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!then when the waste gate sounds off at 130+ mph, your ready to do it again! if ya just didnt have to cool those dang turbos!!!!!!

Mark C comes home from the East coast after riding in Les's truck, he tells me mine feels like a turd, and I pretty sure he was being totally serious. So I could only guess what les's truck feels like.

Fast trucks hurt, at least Mark Larson's does as I'm holding the laptop, watching the DM, he launches, and the screen slams shut on my thumb. Les truck felt sweet, after it stopped spinin.

When we launched I was like, this doesn't feel much faster than mine.....then it stopped spinin. WHAM to the back of the seat I go and couldn't move. It was SWEET!
