Whats it worth????

THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE AD~

Im just trying to gauge your opinions on what my 93 Typhoon might be worth. It has 28k miles, was in an engine fire years ago and now has an aluminum headed Vette TPI engine. It is a decent daily driver and Im getting close to putting it up for sale. It will still need a few things when sold, such as the A/C will need finished up and it has no cruise anymore and will need an aftermarket unit installed to make it all work Im sure. Im just curious what you think it might be worth, it is still low mileage, the doors shut nice, seals are good, seats are good, but it has a V8. Title is clean still...

ideas???

no turbo i think that TPI motor makes similiar torque to a 4.3 turbo, and it has a 2800 stall. It leaves hard, probably runs the same as a stock 4.3 turbo. Has a lot of potential for growth being SBC based also.

It would make a decent driver. V8 SyTy are hard to sell especially since the motor installed isn't anything special. (SyTy are hard to sell in the first place) Recently a V8 Typhoon went for $10K but it had a built SBC and ran 11's.

Positive is you have low miles and it looks to be in good condition. The negative being the V8 and previous fire.

A SyTy motor has noticably more torque than a TPI motor. (I have both) The factory rating was under rating by quite a bit (420-440 is real stock torque) TPI are ~350ft-lbs. I would guess than its slightly slower (mid 14's) than a stock Ty, given the lower Torque and HP ratings (TPI rating of 235-250hp vs SyTy 280-285 Hp ratings.) Even with some bolt on mods (ie leaving the stock TPI intake) its difficult to push a HP TPI past the Stock SYTy HP levels.

The motor maybe a SBC but the only way quick way to make it fast would be N2O, all other options would be more expensive forced induction or aftermarket Intake/heads/Cam. If its a factory shortblock its going to have cast pistons as well.

IMO I would probably give you $6-7K for it and use it as a driver or if I was looking for a project I would ripped the motor out and either put back a 4.3 or a Turbo V8. Ultimately its only worth what your willing to sell it for and what someone is willing to pay for it.

I appreciate the feedback. Mine is much more of a daily driver than that. It has been knocking down around 24 mpg on the highway to work and back too
