Alright I checked around and did some searching but im just looking to get a general idea. 93 typhoon mods are in my sig.

Im thinkin about pickin up a progressive methanol kit and goin 20psi with a 50/50 mix

Are 12's possible? Even 12.99 is cool with me.

The only thing im worried about is the trans, stock converter and having the 3-4 WOT upshift problem. If it takes a crap im not gonna be too excited about over 2k for a trans.

Just lookin to see if I should just forget about it and stop throwing money at it, or is the methanol going to take the truck to the next step.

Hell yeah! Now that's the attitude ;) The methanol (or any high octane/high boost combo) WILL definitely take your truck to the next step, after some tuning (of course). I can still remember the first time I ran my Syclone engine over the stock 15 PSI. It was somewhere between 17-20 PSI but so long ago I'm not sure. Either way I can picture the exact road/hill I was going up when I laid into it. The tone of the engine sounded different for sure, the turbo sounded different, and I was put back into my seat! I was... what does "Bezerk" say........ADDICTED!! :silly: :dizzy:

My buddy Keith from Ohio "Typhoon #1133" got his stock turbo Ty to run 12.6 if I remember right (It might have even been 12.4!) on a similar setup to my old stock turbo combo with an SMC non-progressive alky kit.

Your 20 PSI target is right on the money, but I would strongly suggest a 100% methanol solution - the "50%" water is bogus in my opinion. Everyone I know who is a die hard alky sprayer, found best results with 100% methanol. (I do know some "casual" alky users with Mustangs who run the 50/50 and claim it works)

Roughly speaking, the stock trannys seem to go south a lot faster once you get to the low 12s, high 11s. The stock converter shouldnt be a problem, it was a blessing for me (more HP up top NOT slipped away like a loose converter would..)

The 3-4 WOT upshift is something I have a lot of experience with, more than most "expert" tranny shops. :roll: It can be fixed if you are dedicated, serious, and ready to get a lot of ATF dripped on you! And it MUST be fixed if you want to do any serious quarter mile runs. (Something I could never get the tranny shops to understand.)

I have one of those SMC non-progressive alky kits that Tooky mentioned above I want to sell. Let me know if you want it - it'll be cheaper than one of the new progressive kits. It is 100% complete kit with an extra in cab controller box. I can take pics for you if needed.

Cool thanks guys. Think im going to take Crazykaese up on his offer and pick up his methanol kit. Im fine with running 100% methanol, just take a little bit more lookin to find it locally. The 3-4 upshift is going to be first on the list then the methanol kit goes in.

Just had a string of bad luck on the truck and finally got alot of stuff squared away....hearing I can make it into the 12s is a good motivator to tough it out.
