Are they exact minus the turbo? Weight and all? How hard would it be to install F.A.S.T. or Accel DFI (Gen 6 not 7) and mount turbo? What kind of prices do they get compared to Sy Ty? I don't see them for sale and the ones I have found are in HORRIBLE condition.

:D identical interior, same front bumper, and rear roll pan, different ground effects/ cladding, lack of wheel flares, higher ride height, not worked over tranny, and the regular 4.3 cpi 195 hp v6.

as far as price about a 1/3 of a sy/ty in the same shape, miles.

Also they are 2wd

Another reaon that they are in such bad shape is they were used as a truck and not regarded as being a sport truck or worth anything until recent years, so most of the 806 that were made have been driven into the ground.

I think mine is one of the cleanest around when i bought it, with only 53K miles and 2 owners, ran and drove fine, very minor rust in the back of the bed and drivers side fender, but it was in Boston Mass its whole life until i bought it and i paid alittle over 5 grand for it and flew to Boston and drove it home.

As far as value my insurance guy said to them its just a 92 GMC Sonoma nothing more or less, so when it gets back on the road ill most likely get some kind of agreed value coverage just to be safe.

One just sold on ebay for around 3 grand, and it had less than 70K miles and had all the cladding, was red and grey, and had an apillar pod and for some reason the owner before the guy that sold it mounted a volt guage in the glove box door, other than that it seemed to be a pretty clean truck, the bidding was started at 5 grand but after several days and no bids it was lowered to 2500 starting price. Like everything else they are worth what someone is willing to give for them.

Good luck with your search for a Sy/Ty.

From what I've seen it's hard to find them in good shape. Most are just used as daily beaters by people not knowing there history. There's a red/red around me thats just beat to hell.

Rare doesn't necessarily mean cool....

Rare doesn't necessarily mean cool....

I have wanted a Sonoma GT since about 1994 and I finally found one for sale, but it had seen better days. I am now in middle of getting in back in shape.

My GT suffered light front damadge in a crash, which trashed the special Syclone/Typhooon/Sonoma GT bumper support and the front Syclone/Typhoon/Sonoma GT bumper cover. It also needs both front cladding pieces on the fenders that attach to the bumper cover.

I temporarily addressed this by buying a one piece fiberglass bumper cover/air dam that I will run in the time being until I get my hands on the GT stuff.

The interior is complete except for the stereo, but was nasty:noway:filthy. It also had a leaky windshield from rust under the sealant. I spent a few straight days removing the interior & detailing it. It is now back in great shape again. The original bed was shot, but the truck came with a sweet take-off bed from a parts truck. I POR-15'd the rear frame so far and plan to finish the rest soon.

I recently decided to convert it to AWD using a Syclone frame and suspension and Bravada AWD drivetrain.

Here's some good Sonoma GT facts:

Well, SoGT are super rare. I've got one put away in my barn since I don't have time for it right now, but I don't want to sell it. # 701. I need to get a piece of cladding repaired, I cracked it in a pot hole on the last block of a 750 mile trip. It really pissed me off. Anyways, if you look long enough you will find a SoGT, but I predict in the next 20 years you wont see them for sale anymore. We've got a Sonoma GT e-mail list over at Yahoo, some guys post important SoGT info and will help you find one for sale if you want.

I also have a gt and i am interested in buying another one. I have a friend that has one parked in storage with less then 50 miles on it. I am certain one day i will buy this truck.
