i would if i knew how, but then again the original site would have been done that way from the begining, lol.

if someone knows of any premade generic database things, I might be willing to give it a crack but Ill definately need some help.

you've had an offer on the table for a month now worth close to $1,000 to handle all of this...

last i checked the offer was for hosting, not database/website development.

morgan, the premade stuff is pretty generic, phpnuke, etc.. lots of them, none of them do club type member databases but can be setup to do something similar.

I will talk to my friend who owns b20vtec.com I know he bought software for like 200 or something like that and if you type that into your browser you can see what kind of board it is.

thats forum software with a frontend..
same thing as this site..

if thats all we want, I can probably find the time to do it.

if we want a custom db with self user registration and a specific approval process (to weed out none northeast members and junk accounts) its going to be alot more difficult.. Renz said he'd help us out if it was a asp/mssql based website.. but the hosting we did use and currently have an offer for is linux based.. which means it would need to be php/mysql..

basically, I'm trying to advance my career right now, find a new job and deal with alot of stuff in my personal/professional life.. I simply don't have time to sit down and concentrate on a designing a database/website.. and I'm pretty sure I could find the time to install one of the premade apps that will do most of it, but the customization part of it takes a ton of time as well.

I think what the guys liked was one place to hold all of the pictures collected from all the members. There were a lot of memories on that site and tons of valuable rare pics of items and trucks. It was defintly a loss for the syty community especially for those who did not back up all of their information.

that was just the gallery software, that is easy to install.. the goal is to have a database of members so morgan doesn't have to keep track of everything by hand anymore.

Re: What's the word with the NASTE website?

I took a DBMS course (MySQL based) years ago, and I don't remember a damn thing from it... but I still have the book on my shelf and I could possibly try to relearn some stuff. I'm a hardware guy, so there's no chance in hell I could start from scratch, but I'll help out where I can.

Eric, any chance of putting the gallery back up anytime soon? I know I personally haven't posted a single pic online since the old server took a dirtnap.

Re: What's the word with the NASTE website?

yeah, we definately dont need a forum and like Eric said, the gallery software is a completely sperate item.

We need a custom database to allow members to join/register, edit their truck into and personal info, as well as allow them to delete accounts if they do sell or move out of the northeast, although I guess deleting an account could just still be a back end thing.
