1991 I was standing in a dealer ready to buy one because I just got the notice of My full ride for school, But made the decision to leave the money in the bank till after school. well fast forward 8 years later My wife bought me one, and has regretted it since she said its like giving me premission to cheat

Thats alot of old timers here...
My old timer names people would know me by are GregW, ShuggsRR, H8Fords, MrXtreme... etc
I used to run the SyTy Classifieds back when I lived in Chicago/Naperville... I had a black 95 ext cab S10 SS then the black reg cab supercharged S10 Xtreme

As for being an old timer,man it is good. :rock:
Can you imagine the anticipation of us old guys when we heard about this stupid fast truck that GM was ACTUALLY GOING TO BUILD?
OMG it was insane!
Because GM basically took 1975 on up building crap,well maybe the Vette's were okay,and yeah the GN's were an anomaly,but pretty much the well was dry when these beasts appeared.
They were legends from day 1.
IMO it is sad that due to lack of advertisement and a generally shitty economy during the first Gulf War,that these trucks failed to grab more attention.
The high price over a regular Sonoma/Jimmy didn't help.
I'm just glad I got mine.

i had to save for like 5 years and look for one i could afford.... i was a teenager when i decided that i needed to buy a typhoon. so far it is the coolest wrong thing i ever bought. as a kid it is hard to pay for a truck by yourself and school at the same time. oh well..... i almost own my truck and im still smiling.

That's funny. I bought a new GT in 92 when I was working as an engineer for GM and also never knew how rare they were. There was a lot of Syclone hype in the plant in late 90-91 but I really couldn't afford the Sy so I went with the GT. I remember everyone bringing in the C&D article with the Ferrari when it came out. Our plant manager got a prototype Ty that we got to drive and I was really hooked then. Traded it in on a Vette but always wanted a Syclone, so eventually the Vette went and my first Syclone came home. Three Syclones later and mountains of spare parts and memorbilia I think it's fair to say I'm hooked on these #%^@! things.

When I was 17 I went to the Olds/GMC dealership and saw the Syclone sitting there in the parking lot and thought, what the hell is that. Enter greasy sales guy who proceeded to tell me these trucks are faster than the Vettes in the 1/4. I told him I would be back after my parents got off work to look at the truck (my 300ZX was too slow) just don't tell them how fast it is any he would probably make a sale that night. Well this prick didn't think a snot nosed 17 year old should be driving this truck so the first words out of his mouth to my dad were "it's as fast as it looks, beats the Vettes in the 1/4" :rant: Well my dad just turned around and walked out (I had 5 or 6 tickets by 17). Went home and BEGGED and PLEADED and even pulled on moms heart strings. Next day we went back down, greasy salesman came over and I told him I wasn't going to deal with him, new sales guy comes over and I bought the truck sitting on the showroom floor that night :tup: Been hooked ever since. Had to sell her to go to school. Bought the second one 2 years ago and haven't closed the pocketbook since :rotf:

Dont ask me. I know as much as you do about it at this point. he said its all stock. Have yet to find anything but stock everything on the truck besides tires.

I knew of the trucks since about 2000, and I really got into looking for one about a year ago. I have a thing for high maintenance toys, and since they dont make a 2 stroke car/truck I figure a turbo 6 is the next best thing. You get used to being broke after awhile... right?
