When will the bad luck end...Think I blew the tranny.

I just got the new engine installed in my ty. I have about 50 miles on it. I was heading to the store this morning and as I took off from a stop sign the tranny started slipping then heard a loud bang, then no forward gears. It has reverse so I was able to back it onto my car trailer. When I got it home there was a big puddle of tranny fluid under it.

I have never blown a transmission before, but I would guess that this is bad enough that I will have to pull the tranny to fix?

Sorry, I just had to rant. The Ty was down for two years with the engine out of it. I finally get it back together and it only last 50 miles before another huge problem.

Re: When will the bad luck end...Think I blew the tranny.

This is exactly what happened when I grenaded my first transmission three years ago. Ended up being a sprag torn in two (VERY common problem) and most significantly, all the teeth in my rear planetary carrier were completely stripped out. I didn't bleed any ATF so, your failure was far more severe than mine was.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to dig deep to fix it because it is going to have to come out and be rebuilt unless you toasted the case too :( . I feel your pain because after my second transmission went, my truck was off the road for two years. So I know the love/hate relationship that comes with owning these things.
