If you don't need to change it, Keep the 160*. After using the stock 195*, than a 180*. I put the 160* in and the truck runs so much better with it that I'll never use the other two again. The drain is on the bottom of the tank on the driver side if I recall right.

I've read that you should not go lower than 180 WITH a stock chip. Don't know why. That drain is right over the frame so it spills everywhere. Put the truck up in the air and use a bucket or maybe just a big drain pan.

Don, right now I'm using the stock chip as I need a new map sensor for the Ultimate and the truck runs really good with the 160*. It passes the Calif smog test this way.

Re: where is the radiator petcock? and what is the best thermostat?

i had a 160 and the truck block barely got to 140 at the hottest spot and it was useing a lot of fuel due to no closed loop (aftermarket chip compensates for that i believe) but i switched to a 180 and mine actually runs better with that and does not run as rich but it still does not get up to 180 degrees do maybe it just runs cold be the first motor i have seen that has that prob so maybe thats why.

that is with a digital rateck double check with a nother diffrent model.

Just don't buy it at Oreilly Auto Parts,(national chain) those guys will rape you.

I was working on a Blazer I had just bought, and ask my wife to go pick me up a 160 stat.

She went to Oreillys.Comes back with a $13 thermostat.I was like "no ****ing way" Had her take it back and get the $4 one from Autozone.

Is there a part number you guys use for the 160* stat? or do you walk up to the counter and say 160* stat for a 4.3L?
