VermontTy said:The consesus seems to be the KYB Monomax. Anyone had experience with Edelbrock shocks? The previous owner put them on all 4 corners of my Ty, and the front seems to be okay, but the rear bottoms out HARD without much effort at all. It's lowered 2" with blocks. Will the KYB's help this out?

it will help out somewhat, but my ty still bottoms out just not as bad.
This AM I took out the 2" blocks and put in 1" blocks; not the biggest difference in the world, but it does not bottom on every crack in the road now; 30 min project start to finish.velox03 said:i have the exact same setup. edelbrock shocks and 2" lowering blocks.
i would say the ty is not smooth. it feels like a lowered car w/ cut springs. so it bounces a bit. however i have not had it bottom out. it does corner much better though. i'm thinking of changing them out to kyb's or something.
Baja Resident said:I have belltech 3-4" drop leafs and KYB drop shocks and have never felt my truck bottom out. The ride is about 90% the same as it was before I took out the air shcoks and stock leafs. Only diff being it doesn't feel like the rear is as "cushiony" which is what I was looking for anyways. Takes turns like a sports car now, I feel almost zero body roll.
when you are searching Summit for KYBs, click on the link for "lowered 2-3 inch" applications and you will see the other monomax's, they have a different part numberCarbonFiber AWD said:Baja.....you mentioned "KYB drop shocks" ? Is that different from the Monomax part numbers ?
.............thanks
as a matter of fact, I think the KYB gas-adjust are cheaper than the monomax, if you are looking for adjustablesZewerr@hotmail.com said:How come none of you mention how you like the shocks? I, myself am thinking about throwing Koni Specials on my Sy. I had good luck with Koni's on my Fiero, I was hoping to stiffen up the ride and reduce the body roll on my truck. Anyone use Koni's? They are alot more expensive, but I think they're worth it being that they're adjustable.
