Which vendors still offer the vortec intake mod?

I haven't seen much on Vortecs the past several months. Was just wondering who is still doing the lower intake mods and what are the current prices?

Re: Which vendors still offer the vortec intake mod?

I think Campbell Automotive does. I assume RPM does. I've searched and searched and no one ever says where to get it done/where they had theirs done.

$250 sounds better, that's about what I paid to convert the Sy over a few years ago. How long ago did you do yours? I'll have to shoot Mike an email.

Yeah $250 is to get it to fit. I think it's $450 if you want the lower ported also.

so do you sent them the heads and intake, and they send you another set (kind of like an exchange deal) or do they do yours up for you.....how long does it take to have this done?

I haven't done it yet myself, but you send him your intake. RPM has brand new bare Vortec castings that he can assemble for you. He drills them for the stock bolt pattern. I'm sure you can send out your heads as well. He does everything in house so it shouldn't take too long.

I still do them as well. price is about the same as everybody else. I usually do intake and head port matching at the same time for a additional fee. pm me for details.

shipping heads its a pain, and not very cost effective (unless you already have built/assembled heads). If you are going to use rpm, just buy one of there $100 bare sets of heads and have them drill them and ship them to you all at once...that'll save you some bucks. Shipping heads will cost like $40-60 depending on how you box them and how far they're going usually.

Is that $100 for a pair of heads from RPM, or just for one head?

From Mike at RPM. $100 per head and $100 to drill both heads for our intake. I think I paid $375 for a pair of drill and assemble vortec heads (without rocker studs). $250 for the intake convertion without porting. All for you do after that is get Fel pro 1203 intake gaskets, vortec valve cover and arp head bolts and rocker studs and your are ready to put it together.

Hi folks,

Are those original GM castings or Chinese knock-offs?

I believe mikes got all gm stuff as do I. I hope nobody on here would buy anything like that. not sure if it even exists in our case.

Thanks John,

Didn't know you had these, as well.

Kinda sounded "suspicious," since the list price on these heads from the dealer is way over $300.00 each, and my wholesale cost is about $250.00. Didn't see how anyone could offer genuine GM new heads for $100.00 each.

I know that '96/up are the heads to get, but is there any one BEST year?

Heard there is a company in N.C. making new heads for some (but certainly not all) vehicles, so I didn't mean to say that they definitely came from China/Taiwan.

Anyway, hope you and Beth had a nice vacation, Christmas, etc., and I will let you know if I decide to take the plunge.

The work you did on porting my wastegate seems great, as boost control is pretty good, even after gutting the cat.
