Hey Doug. You need to go to the Nats this year. Bring your brother and nephews too. Not all of us are the young, single, party type. Im married with two kids and my wife and kids go to the Nats every year and we have a great time. Sometimes people can seem rude when they are on the internet. You'll be surprised how cool and helpfull everybody is in person. I've made lots of good friends over the years and I know I'll make more in the years to come.

Glad to see you on here Doug. I've only been around a couple of years, and had heard of this mythical Doug in St. Louis with a bunch of Ty's. Nobody knew much though. However, I had heard you had a Garnet in your collection, but you didn't mention it. I'm surprised with the number of Garnets that have been up for sale in the past year or two, and some fine examples of them as well, that you didn't snatch one of those up as well. If you want to bring some trucks to Nats, I'll be more than happy to stop by on my way and load one on my trailer, or drive it to nats for you. Since it's going to be a couple years before mine is back together, I need something to drive.

I agree. The people who attend the Nats are from all different age group, at 49 years old you definately wouldn't be the oldest member. We all share an enthusiasm for SyTy's.
BTW if you want, an admin can remove your phone number and address from the first post. I know that I wouldn't want my address or phone posted all over the internet.

Hi Doug,
There is a few of us "older" kids on here. I am 52 and have two 93 Typhoons and a Syclone. The one Typhoon (#0883) I owned since 1994 and is currently one of the fastest AWD Ty's out there. The other Typhoon, I rescued the body from a date with the bone yard. It had no chassis, on doghouse, no drive train, a few interior pieces and that was it. I decided to go a different direction with it and built a Chris Alston (Chassis Works) 2WD frame and will be setting this up similar to a pro-street style show and go truck. I am not an advocate to changing SyTy's to two wheel drives, but rather than see them go to the bone yard, this was a good chance for me to do something I enjoy doing. Being creative and a little different. Check out the the link below (ty #0735) to view pic's...
I also purchased a Syclone that someone else had already swapped out the AWD frame for a 2WD frame and backed halved it. It had no drive train, but the body was in very nice condition. This will be my project for 2007. I bought my first Jimmy's the year they came out, my second one in 1985 and a third one in 1987, all new at the time. When the Typhoons came out I was standing at the dealership waiting for one. I bought a new one in 1993 and bought another one in 1994, with 2,500 miles on it. I sold the first one six months later, as I didn't have a enough garage space at the time and someone want it badly enough to pay me more than I had in it. Looking back ...I should have kept it.
These truck are great and a good time, whether driving them, working on them, racing them, or just showing them off! It great to meet people like you that have a similar passion for those trucks!
I empathize with your health situation. I was in a serious car-train accident when I was 17 years old. Fortunately for me, we heal much better when younger. I had no long term lingering effects from that (well...maybe mental), but I realize you have it to deal with your pain daily. I and all of the syty board members wish you could wake up in the morning and it could be different. Hopefully, things can get better over time.
I travel quite often for business and come to St. Louis on occasion. I'll buy lunch sometime when I get back there.

nope no Sy yet but when I do it will be a nice one if I can manage to scrape up some more cash I'd have one rt now as for a blk/blk its one of my favorites and I am seriously thinking about selling my blk over argent for a blk on blk as I hate the argent it just never held up on any stocker, GM and their infamous silvers of the 90's but c'mon its really a ballbuster to keep 9 of them out of the reach of would be crooks !...Doughatrik8 said:
