i saw today that a connector on my trans was disconnected. its a 4 pin connector that is on the driver side just above the shifter linkage. i guess that its not important because i havent touched the trans in about a year. i was just wondering what it is? anybody know?

I thought VSS was on the Transfer Case on our trucks and that the connector on the transmission is for the Torque Converter Clutch?

The biggest thing that it does is that locks your converter to minimize slippage (and heat generation) at cruise which gives you better fuel economy overall (not to mention longer life due to less heat). "The convience of an automatic transmission with the fuel economy of a manual" is how it read in one of my service manuals. HTH's

does it matter if i connect it? i have a B&M 2800rpm converter and im not sure if it is a lock up or a non-lock up converter. if that matters or not.

Connect it. If you dont have a locking converter, you will be putting a bunch of heat into the trans and will likely kill it quicker.
