You take your wipers off with a crowbar? When made properly, your not going to crack CF unless you have some serious weight or tension on it to crack it. Back when I made some prototype CF cladding, we stood on it and bounced up and down. Other than the rash from scrubbing on the ground, the piece was fine.

Now scratching yes...that could happen...but that could happen to the stock metal piece on everyones truck now.

mmmmmm, cf shaved cowl. fairly small and fairly cheap. i like it.

wow alot was posted while typing .lol . to address the bed sides :
my own installation will consist of a 1.25 aluminum square tubing frame welded together similar to the front core supports with mounting tabs for the 1pc bedsides . Im doing this to lighten my sy and this will be very similar to the pikes peak bedsides , just stock oem looking .

in an order to keep the prices down say ive also been thinking of an outer tailgate skin with mounts . with a skeleton bed design , why over do it on the inside of the tailgate ?bed lids gonna hide it anyway imho .

I think there should be a carbon fiber widebody kit like the supras. Shave like 1000lbs off our trucks. Make a 12 second truck into an 11 second truck.

Re: Would more carbon fiber for the syty's be popular ?

If your talking about making stuff for your truck, but then selling parts to make some sort of money from it, i would stay away from anything that isnt a "bolt-on". Most people dont want to/are not capable of making those type of modifications to their trucks. Yes bedsides would be cool and light weight, but how many Sy owners do you see cutting up the beds of their trucks? Typhoons of course dont have beds, and regular s10s wont want a bed with the cladding molded in cause they would have to get the rest of the cladding to match.

I would think things like radio bezels and other bolt in interior pieces would be fairly easy to mold, small enough to be reasonable to ship, and within the average owners price range for upgrades. Maybe someone already makes those parts I honestly dont know.

Im still amazed that no one out there makes a hood for the earlier s10 body style. There are multiple styles for the later body style s10 but nothing for ours, but the demand would be there for them thats for sure, since any S10, S15, Sonoma, Jimmy, Blazer, etc etc from 1982 to 1993 could use one.

From your original post it sounded like you were looking for ideas for parts to make and sell, but if you just want ideas for your own truck, make everything above the frame carbon fiber, a completely carbon fiber cab would be pretty light compaired to stock i would imagine

Re: Would more carbon fiber for the syty's be popular ?

Thanks . The front clip items , tailgate, and smaller items i could see others easily wanting . The only non-bolt on piece im thinking of is the bedsides , and i dont think anyone would want them with price being the no 1 reason . No bed cutting going on for sure , maybe someone else had mentioned that but i wouldnt even cut up my own bed . Im not that crazy .lol.

This is an older pic from late 07, but you get the idea of what im working on first. I started the mold for this today with my new resins and between the non/ac box ,marlboro door pods , and this hood , im at least trucking forward at a good pace.

Those 3 items will be offered in fg and cf so theres gonna be 2 prices to choose from . Once they are complete , its next on the list in no particular order . I am going to have some extra door pod sets at nats and my cf hood will be on my sy for everyone to check out . No/ac boxes should be ready as well. Please keep all the comments and ideas flowing , i appreciate all of them . (except the cab idea :squint:, your smoking the good stuff on that one:rotf:)

NOTE: The hood looks beautiful today and its finish is smooth and flawless . (just wanted to include that in case your eyeing up the rough spots;))

OEM style, but I like the hood image you posted earlier in this thread.

Don't know how long I can wait as I need a hood before testing in the next month or so. Might have to settle for the aluminum hood with the crappy '80s style 2" reverse cowl.

i have my own hood ive created , and is the plan . just not the first item for sale . oem style you looking for or cowl ?

Make your hood and price me on a CF version. Lead time? Weight? Cost? I'll be installing it as a lift off with 4 hood pins.

More CF rules, less CF drools. This is my professional opinion.

Truthfully though I'd love to see more CF for our rigs. Rear hatch, doors, fenders, hoods and for pity's sake a full dash redesigned. Ours is dated and looks it. Door interiors would be nice too.

Also with all these people hacking up their core supports would a CF core support be viable or even possible?

I like those as opposed to the Q-form kick panel pods. They intrude way to much into the footwell. As someone with long legs & big feet I could not use the Q-forms or any other kick panel pod.

I'm kinda freaky about storage in the Sy since there is so little of it. Would it be possible to integrate a map pocket to the rear of the pod where the ugly vent is? Basically from the back of the pod to the back of the door panel.
