So i run into this guy last night who thought he was cool mowin me down one night when my trans was slippin bad. SO i tlel lets do it again this it will be a different story. So he says ok . He has Drag Radials BTW. So we go to ao good spot and I drop my frined off with the camera. We line up and does a big burn out. When the light on the other side turns yelow I start to spool, when it turns red I punch it and I start to creep so I let off and then green and I had a horrible launch. He launched as hard as me and by 1/2 way tho the 1/4 mark he was passing me hard. So we go one more time and smae thing, I screwed up my launch. I flet like suck a jack off I wanted to die. I even had one of my little hoes with me. Oh well, maybe next time.

Hmmmm...sounds like a time for the JWaller tranny build.
Umm..., ok. If he wanted a build, he would go to HHP. He enjoys rebuilding his own (apparently). And he lost becuase he crept throught the breaks, not the tranny.

Time for larger wheel cylinders, Mike!

tranny or no tranny...zo6's kick ass ....they run 12.5's bone stock (12.4 is chevy's number they put out).

unless you're keeping it to 1/8th don't waste your time, they'll real you in like a fishy everytime!

Re: Z06 with F'in darag radials

I was headed north on 35 one night (when my truck was running) and I saw the vette tail lights so I goosed it and flew by him. In passing, I noticed it was a ZO6. I look in my rearview and see his headlights jump up and I knew he was coming hard. He flew by me like I was sitting still at 85m.p.h.!!! Those cars scream on the top end.

Shit - try 11s. Fastest recorded time I've seen bone stock is 11.78 @ 117. A bunch of guys have hit 11s bone stock. Takes a hell of a driver though.

Do you know how to do this by chance? Ive thought about it but cant find anything concrete in terms of part #'s. I would hate to go buy a bunch of stuff and it doesnt work. The Z06 for sure wouldve gotten me any way but I dont care what anyone says, I couldve taken him for most of the run if I launched with more 1-2 lbs. That was definately my night for screwed up launches. The race with Cobra and STI I screwed up the first 2 races. First I launched befroe everyone second I launched with my parking brake on  And yes I do liek to build my own trans, I think its fun.

think about this if it's helpful. in the back use 2 big brake shoes instead of 1 small and 1 large. don't get shoes that last a long time because they are hard and will not grip as well. change the wheel cylinders to the biggest ones that will fit.

problem is that if you have something like baer brakes up front with good pistons, they take away from the stock boost cannister. you can go up at least one size on the cylinders. you'll probably have to take yours out and go to a napa or somewhere and let them match you up a bigger one. someone on the board has to remember what cylinders to use... i just can't remember. also, if you have a msd type ignition where you can use a stutter box you won't have to worry about pushin the brakes through the floor and giving it just enough throttle. just hold the brakes and push the go pedal to the floor while holding the button in till you're ready and then let go of the button and the brakes at the same time. it'll also let you make a little more boost that way. i'll try to remember which cylinders you can go with, but just contact turbo6 (phil) or maxtor (mark) and they can both tell you which ones. i had them on both my syclones, and those are the two guys who own them now. they may even have a set they'd let you have cheap cause neither one of them is relying on this method anymore.

let me know how you make out. remember... you have to buy 2 sets of rear shoes and then just use 2 big ones on each wheel. get soft shoes with holding power instead of long lasting ones. they're also cheaper. turbo tony in canada can also tell you exactly which ones to get.

I appreciate the info. It is someting I definately would ike to do. I usually can hold 15lbvs all day with out any creep at all but unfortunatley this means Im adjusting my shoes every other month or so. I never realized that one shoe was big and one was small, they lok the same to me. This weekend I will take the drum off and look a little closer. Thanks again for that info.

ya, but that does take a major kick ass driver...and they aint' goig to run that on the street.

you'll need a bigger turbo or a shoter run to win.

from a roll, don't waste your time...play your game, not his.

Mike, you may have the wrong shoes on the wrong side. Big one on the rear. As far a Hartman's builds, I'd talk to him about it. I know he has the parts made just for him, so I'm not sure about patent/copyright issues. PM if you need his #.

They are the same shoes that came with the truck. They always look practically new when I take the drums off. Ive adjusted them about 6 times in the last 1 1/2 years. Minimal wear everytime I look. What are you talking about Hartmans build? Who is HArtman and what did he build? You lost me there. Are you bringing your ass down here or what? You gotta check it out.

Couldn't of said it better myself. He is local to us too. HHP is his company, Hartman High Performance. He still gets better parts for these tranny's than anyone else can.

Mike is hell on tranny's (both kinds said:

Mike, when you said this I initinally thought you were refering to a HHP built tranny, not a larger wheel cylinder. I know HOW to do it, just not sure what part # or anything. If my memory serves me correct, the stock wheel cylinder is 3/4", and the larger one is 7/8", but I could be wrong. It's probably in the archives somewhere, but I'm lazy.

You may want to try putting on new shoes. Not sure how the material reacts to bosted launches, but it could be getting worn out instead of worn down?
