well, i'm almost done using the claybar on my ty... man is it a pain. maybe my ty is just really dirty, or maybe i'm just being anal... but it's taking me a few days just to do the claybar part. i do try to use it to get off road tar and what not... so maybe that's why it take sooooo dang long. anybody have a good method of using it?

well, i was looking at zaino's website, and looks like he has a new product out. ZFX.
has anyone used it??

yea, i use the car wash w/ water in a spray bottle. how long should it take to clay down a ty? mind me that it's my first time and there must be a lot of build up.

is the mcguire's like the zaino clay bar?
zaino clay bar reminds me of silly putty... except yellow and expensive... hey, wait a minute!! maybe it is?!?!

McGuire's is like a wax. It goes on like a wax. It comes off like a wax. It cleans your paint. I, too, have had good luck with McGuire's body scrub and the rest of their products as well. I might jump ship to the Zaino camp though at least for the waxes and polishes. Dunno yet.

Also, you might want to try a Liquid Bug & Tar Remover. Don't get the spray on gasoline in a can type of stuff - you will have too much brain damage by the time you are done with that. I used Turtle Wax brand and had great results with it.

I used a Mothers clay bar (it was on clearance), and it was a pain and didn't seem to do much. Granted, this was my first time ever using one, so I might not have been doing it right, but I did what the instructions said. Took me a couple hours at most to do the Sy...

I later tried Meguiars Body Scrub as a suggestion to get rid of that haze I had. It's a liquid that you wipe on and buff off. Don't know about other stuff, but it took that haze off like nothing...

dave,

thanks for the feedback...
i found that under my door, on the lower ground effect, there are a ton of rock chips. also on my front bumper cover. do you have this also??
i hate to look at my front bumper cover... my ty is white, and once it gets chipped you see black under the paint. not sure if i can do anything to help it... or even clean it up a bit. do you do anything special for these highly-prone rock chip areas?

thanks, MikeC

Yeah, I have my truck stolen and have the front bumper cover repainted

No really, it is a bitch to keep looking decent. If it is already chipped there isn't much you can do besides touch it up and wetsand to match. Which is proabably more of a pain in the ass then it is worth. I guess all I can say to keep your truck from getting chips on it is to not drive it. The white trucks may be the fast ones but they sure are a bitch to keep looking good

clayin a car is a bitch...just gotta remember to keep it wet ...and wash the car before u start...as for the chips in the paint u could use chip guard but u'd have to repaint the cladding ...and u proly would like how it looks(looks bumpy).just try not to ride peoples asses.

Where did you find the Body Scrub? I have looked for it at Pep Boy's, Wal-mart, Target, Meijers & K-mart(any place I can get Meguiars product's). I can't find it. The only place I have found it is on Meguiars website. There prices seem a little bit higher than in stores though.

Thanks,
zac

I used clay magic on my truck last summer after getting metal in my paint that comes out of the chimneys. It took me about 15 hours to get my truck done. but i never seen my paint look so good before. lots and lots of work!!!

I haven't seen any Body Scrub around here lately. I'm starting to think they renamed it to or replaced it with that Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner stuff. The bottle looks the same, and the directions and warnings and stuff on the back looked about the same...

Couple years ago my sy got a nice overspray of DItchWitch Orange paint.... I ended up filing insurance claim on it and got 2000 bucks out of the deal.

Then i used a clay bar on it and got ALL of the overpray OFF the paint. And CLadding.

2000 dollar investment... haha.

The Zaino ZFX is the only Zaino product to carry a patent so far. The others aren't patented because they would have to tell what's in it ;). Anyway - it combines with Z-2 to form a base layer and polish all in one. My Zaino distributor showed it to me the other night and it looks really cool. No more Z-1, let it haze, then Z-2. Now you just mix it in 2oz bottles (provided with ZFX) with Z-2 or Z-3 and put it on all at once. His Viper has over 100 coats on it (maybe 200) and it just looks rediculous. I'm ordering some as soon as I can find his phone number. I'll post it here as well - he knows a TON about Zaino and has great customer service.

you guys drive yourself nuts with these bars. Power cut and bc2 is the way to go! The power cut is for first time users that have never cut their paint. The bc2 is a compund/polish/wax all in one and can be applied by hand. It's kinda like a cheaters way to go but it's professional. If you really want to spend time you could do the 10 step process (real wheel needed). I did it to my frineds integra. It was red but oxidized white. It took 3 days but it's perfect. If you guys are into it i could bring the stuff to show you at the next naste meet.
