Anybody deal with Mike at Race Proven Motors

I have bought quite a few items from Mike, no problems. Always get my stuff and he has always been straight up with me. I have even talked to him for quite a while on the tech line with questions, super guy, I will definately buy from him again. Larry.

You'd have a hard time finding a better source for your Syclone / Typhoon speed parts.

I ordered and paid for a turbo/downpipe off of him over two weeks, he was supposed to email or call and give me and give me an exact eta and tell me what was going on,it was suuposed to be here in about 2 weeks. I started calling him last week after not hearing from him and needing my parts on schedule. And now they are not answering there phone anymore, i have made over 20 phone calls in less than a week and left about 5 or 6 msgs. I have to get all my parts together by the end of the month and it looks like its not going to happen dealing with him. Where else is a good place to get a turbo? im looking for a GT67, i thought precision had them but apparently not. I just need to get it by the end of the month, i can worry about getting my money back from them later.

Thanks
Brad

i cant say why mike hasnt called you back, but if hes getting you a PTE turbo theres a few things that he probably should have told you upfront. PTE refuses to give any kind of ETA on turbos that are not "off the shelf". unfortunately PTE takes a really long time on "built to order" turbos depending on parts available, and on how many orders are ahead of yours. its my oppinion that things are run overly tight at precision, and its costing customers/vendors extensive lead times. i have ordered turbos that were here in 3 days, and i have a turbo thats been on order for over 2 months now. im sure people have gotten agravated with me about this in the past, but there really is nothing that can be done on our end. there isnt a big enough sy/ty market to "stock" all the turbo configurations currently available for our trucks, and this leaves us at the mercy of PTE's lead times. unfortunately, not having a large aftermarket following, is one of the pains of owning a rare and limited production turbotruck. if this was a camaro you would ahve your parts already. but then again, do you really want a camaro?

I've purchased parts from Mike. Most recently his A2A I/C. He told me up front it would take some time, and it did, but it DID get here. He's a good guy and if, I mean WHEN :-? , I break something else, I'll order from him again. :D

Ok well apparently he is well like around here. I realize things can take a bit longer than expected etc... But a little communication would go a LONG way in customer service. And perhaps ets'a should not be given if its totally unpredictable. I actually dont care when i get it and im not worried about getting screwed as some people assumed, but i just need the damn thing by the end of the month. So hopefully a month was enough time to get it happening, We'll see what happens.

I'll do the common courtesy of relaying your message to Mike, seeing how Im probably the person who has most contact with him on this board.

big note..

Im relaying your message ONLY.... NOT getting your order completed...thats between you and RPM on when the order gets completed.

hey guys,

dont worry i'm here to stay and not going anywhere. Brad, you have been leaving messages on an old line which we no longer check. It just so happened someone mentioned to me they had left a bunch of other messages on the old line when they finally got in touch with me. I'm not sure where you got it, as all the info has been updated on the website for several weeks now (we moved shops thus the new number). Since you have access to the internet, you can always leave an email which i check throughout the day. I probably should have left a message saying this number is no longer valid, and given out the new number but i have been so busy i just never thought of it. Plus i figured many people would just check the website. I get about 50 calls a day so apparently those people figured it out.

As for your turbo, the center section of the turbo and upper downpipe portion has been done for weeks. The problem is PTE. What can I do when you order 3 syty turbine housings which they say are in stock, then they ship you GN 3 bolt housings. When I call to say they screwed up the order, now all of a sudden they dont have syty P trim housings in stock. This started over a month ago, and to this day i dont have any syty P trim turbine housings. I have tried to steel them off other turbos on the shelf, and even tried to modify a stg 5 for you, but the lathe doesnt have enough clearance to swing the goofy pte housing.

I spoke to Patrick on friday and he says they just finished machining the housings and are shipping them out via 2 day air on monday. This is after 2 weeks of calling them and getting absolutely NO response. If you are that unhappy you can order from elsewhere. Not sure who would be any faster, but its up to you. Notice i havent charged you a dollar and eventhough I totally misquoted you on the downpipe section, I honored that price without any questions.

Everyone just has to realize that the syty market is small, and the vendor list is growing smaller and smaller. Custom parts take time, and most of the time it is out of my control. People complain about the prices already so you do whatever you can to manufactor parts at a reasonable cost. Most of the time this means relying on other people. Eventhough i order materials, parts, etc weeks in advance often times you find yourself either overstocked, or understocked and without Summit Racing type backing there isnt much you can do..

I have only recently started dealing with anything Sy-Ty but have dealt with Mike @ RPM and found his service outstanding. Sorry to hear that you are having problems but I would rate Mike as a top notch dealer and that any problem you are having is a fluke.

Mike made me (had made) a custom oil pan and converted 4 barrel intake to FI with custom rails and the works. Its in the nature of the business to say it'll be ready on a certain date, and most of the time its not. Its just the way it works, especially when you rely on someone else. Your money is safe. Its a really busy time and you will get your part. You may not have to wait as long with another supplier, but it will be an off the shelf, might kinda fit, piece. Mikes builders do awesome work. My pan is...........sorry, just had to look at it again, sweeeeeet. You'll be happy when you get it.

Well got off the phone with PTE today wondering where my housings are. Leave it up to them to send the stuff ground instead of 2 day like i insisted. Sometimes I feel like I am talking to myself when i am on the phone with them.

They gave me a tracking number and of course it doesnt work either. They said the stuff did ship on the 11th though. Hopefully UPS will show up today with some parts so i can ship some turbos finally.

PTE isn't much better to deal with face to face than on the telephone. I drove up their shop since it is only a couple of hours away when I wanted to upgrade my turbo and wasn't sure what my options were. The lady at the desk asked me if I had an appointment and said the guys on the telephones were really busy and didn't know if they would have time to talk to me  I was standing there with money in one hand, a turbo in the other...... Shortly after that Eric at Turbotime ordered me a wastegate from PTE - they sent it with the wrong spring - then didn't make it right.

I like their products, just wish their customer service could be a little more realistic.

My point to this post - give Mike some slack since PTE is in the loop. They are tough to deal with, but you will likely be satisified once the parts arrive.
