busted lowering block

i finally got around to doing something to my truck today (seeing as how everything falls apart every wknd). took the day off work so this afternoon i decided to go ahead and put the lowering blocks in. got the drivers side on no problem. passenger side, got everything tied up and was tightening the u-bolts and POW, one side of block splits up the side. tighen the other side of the passenger side and it splits. didnt think i tightened them that tight seeing as how i was only using a ratchet. bought DJM so i figured they would be pretty good quality(maybe it had a weak spot, who knows). i guess im gonna have to get another set, i would like to have steel ones instead of aluminum, but at $80 thats just more than i want to pay for lowering blocks. anyone know where to find them cheaper.

Re: busted lowering block

Did you have them the right way? there is a hole in the bottom of them so they can sit on top of the centering pin on the leaf.

Re: busted lowering block

yeah i hit the hole.

think i tightened just a little to tight. i found some cast iron lift blocks that i am pretty sure will work. i also found some solid aluminum ones that i like, but same problem as steel, i just cant see paying what they cost. i get another set whenever seeing as the truck isnt running i got plenty of time.

Re: busted lowering block

The hollow ones are crappy imo. Imagine tightening it up so it works - so far so good.

Then go over a bump and "crack"...

Buy the solids once.....
