Do I see that right, the intakes are going through the front bracing. That not cause a structural issue?

I would be willing to bet that its just as strong as it was originally with the way those intake tubes are welded in there like that..

Re: Camaro... Hoping to finish for GS nationals.

Once I pull it out of the back of the shop after "fire up" I'll give it a bath and take pictures.

The core support is stronger with all the pipes ran through it. I won't have any pipes blowing off

with boost that way and the pipes miss all the heat from the radiator/fans.

No ALDL here :)

Back to work.... Scott~

I'll snap a picture when I pull the IC back out in the next couple days. I've got to paint/body work all that core support/pipes ect.

I got the IC from a guy on Turbo Buick who bailed on a turbo Mustang project for 195.00
Just got lucky and first in line.

Thanks guys...

Almost there....

Almost there....

I don't ever go to a "Dyno" the track is my judge of how well it does. If you make a 1000hp and can't put it to the ground there's no sense of having that power.
Im a beleiver in a total package.. .not just a powerfull engine.

The car with a different 3.8L Buick with a 2004R trans/smaller turbo, Much smaller downpipe  and unported heads was running 10.92@123mph on pump gas, through the mufflers on a DOT tire. I hope to start somwhere in that range and tune it from there.
After waiting 8yrs to have one of "My" cars out I'd just be happy to drive it and enjoy it for the summer!
I usto have my S-10 and my (old 89) Camaro running all the time and need to choose which to drive and play with... Family and work got priority and sold the other Camaro and S-10.
I'm happy we have a Typhoon instead and a great commuinty like this to share info with!
Thanks guys,
Scott~

Re: Camaro... Hoping to finish for GS nationals.

I plan on going with a "stage2" block ... good crank/rods/pistons ect but it'll be a few years before I can afford that kind of setup..... This stock block that's in there with Crower rods/JE's and a girdle should hold up till I can build up a stage engine.
Once the stage engine is built then it'll be time to make some serious power. The stock block will only hold up to so much abuse.. There's always a limit....
I should be able to switch out the short block and have everything else I have now be perfect for the Stage engine.

Awwwww.... Come on... Everyone has a 5" downpipe :rotf:

Honestly... The cost was no different to go 5" than 3" so I said what the hell.

And Bragging rights on the biggest down pipe is'nt too bad either.

So... it go's from single 5" to duel 3" which is 6"... I think I'll not out grow that soon. Lol.

Downpipe is one of the few places that bigger is always better. Cam.. heads ect isn't that

way but downpipe is.

You do know that the flow of two 3" pipes is significantly less than 6", right? Just making sure

Re: Camaro... Hoping to finish for GS nationals.

Would have made my dead line yesterday for firing it up but the used heads I'd bought several years ago are causing me problems.

At the rear of one head it needed to be welded up which I had done at a machiene shop. It was leaking coolant from that area yesterday. The heads have been milled ALOT which I was warned about from Champion when I called down there for a few tech questions on their new intake I was putting on. These heads are one of the first designs and have been used and used by the guy I bought them from. They've been repaired so much that Tom at Champion rememberd them.
I guess my only choice is to get a new set of heads... Fun fun...

Maby in the next few weeks for fire up now. Sure sucks to get this far along and have to
take two steps backwards. :(

Hope everyone else is having a better week.

Go figure the darn Typhoon has been fine

Re: Camaro...

Here's a picture of the outside and Dash.... .Notice the cage all tucked up on the A pillar?
You can't see the cage from outside the car unless you get right inside the window.

It's just a plain 86 Camaro.. Just heat.. no A/C or Power anything. It's the only heater car i've seen. It's about as bare bonz as one could order it.

Hope to get the heads back this week... And get it running.
