Re: Engine mounts

If I was in washington I would offer to do them for you.

I can ask my dad if he is interested. He has the tools for sure and is retired. Not a syty expert but I would trust his work to be right for this.

Re: Engine mounts

It sucks, cause I have this great space to do it in:

With the decent set of tools sitting in the corner there, but I'm only limited to basically 10 hours to do it in. Looking at it, I can't see me doing it that quickly.

Re: Engine mounts

What's the big deal? Just get a propane torch and box cutter and go to town on the stock rubber mounts. That's how I finally got the mount-to-motor bolts out on mine, anyway. Be careful when lifting the motor as the fuel lines at the top of the bellhousing can/will get pinched. You're gonna' love the solid mounts

:stupid:

start on the driver's side....that way, if you run out of time, at least you have the important one in.....took me about 3 or 4 hours to knock it out when I did the driver....didn't even have to remove the driver's side exhaust manifold, but I would imagine it might help to remove it....can be a frustrating job....just have a helper handy for assistance....nice shop!!

Congrats man...that's great news  I love my solid mounts. Out of curiosity, does your 2-1 shift at ~5mph act clunkier than before with the rubber mounts? I noticed right away, that downshift was a lot harder and noisier after going to the solids. I'm assuming this is one of the tradeoffs of having metal on metal vs. rubber in there for insulation?

Re: Engine mounts

I didn't do mine at all. But supposively they got put in with the diffy, exaust manifolds, crossover, and turbo still in place. I guess they just did alotta reaching and tool fabricating.

And my 2-1 downshift has always been rough and clunky. So I didn't notice a difference.
