Re: George Blake - Prime Gears out of Business

I was lucky enough to meet George in person at his house in middletown! My "chrismas present" from him was a one of his amazing HD tranny cables. I just wish I had more $$$ because I really wanted one of the planetaries but crap kept coming up and the money was gone before I could send it to him.

I have always tried to stand up for George when people wanted more and more for free... This was even before he left the first time, which was partially because the "other" tranny builders THREATENED him for sharing information with us. George wanted to make a video showing how to rebuild a 700r4 and at that time he was struggling with large medical bills... I wanted to setup a fund to help with it but I was struggling with my own issues at that time. I wish I could have helped him more at that time...

After many times calling him he was always very generous with his time and for that I sent $100 tonight to George's paypal account ( cblake3@cinci.rr.com ) and if he wants he can use it to take his son and wife to a nice dinner since I did not get the chance to take him to dinner when I met him. That is the least I can do for all that he has done for me! I did get a couple of george's 27 spline cut down shafts for the 4l80e and I am currently getting them cryo treated and one will be in a 4l80e I will be selling later this year when I will be building my own 4l80e... I am a true DIY'er and want to build my own tranny I just wish I could have bought all of the parts from George before he went out of buisness...

THANK YOU GEORGE!!!

Re: George Blake - Prime Gears out of Business

I agree it is truely sad to see yet another great asset to the syty community loose interest and dissapear.

I would much rather refer people to George then take business away from him. This is why i have been sitting on thousands of dollars worth of parts we manufactured for him over 6 months ago (without any sort of deposit). Anyone who has called us for 4L80E parts either bought a Prime Gears piece, or was referred directly to George.

Bottom line, George saw the quality we could provide as a manufactor, and the consistency we could maintain not to mention saving him around 50% off his "old" kit price. I never asked George to refer people to us, and quite frankly i was shocked when i read his first response in this thread.

Now with George formally announcing his withdrawl from the community, we will be able to sell the 4L80E swaps direct to the public at much more affordable pricing. George was looking forward to passing along the savings, but was having a hard time selling off his old inventory due to the slowing economy. So we just held onto everything for him. Now we can formally pass on the savings. We have adaptor plates, shifter brackets, shifter cable brackets, support brackets, and the transmission crossmembers. These were all built to George's specifications.

At this time we are not offering transmission packages, but can provide everything else that is needed to make the swap.

I really haven't even had a chance to talk with George, i only got an email saying he was getting out of the business and planned to refer people to us.. So i am a bit unclear as to what all we are taking over.. If he wants us to continue with the imput shafts, planataries, etc or just the install parts.

Hope that helps clears things up.

Sad to see you go very great mind We are losing and thanks mike for stepping up but mr Blake is incredable the ways he has re engenired the parts on these truck to with stand the abuse they do.

As soon as he came out with a part and said it was good I was sold so thanks for being a great guy and supporting these trucks as long as you could. Being an aspiring trans guy I loved reading your post and then looking at a hyudralic chart and seeing how it worked.

Bottom line you are a great guy and someday I hope to gain some of your trans knowledge

Re: George Blake - Prime Gears out of Business

I'd like to say that I feel the same as everyone else, sad that George is leaving. I've got a conversion project and new to the community so makes me feel a bit disconnected to the SyTy community but in my time here I have purchased an input shaft and an 80E install kit, 80E TCI controller for carb set up & a prop shaft. In the process of ordering and getting these items to my door step George was way more than helpful and willing to tell you anything he knew about transmissions and more. It was like he had no trade secrets. And he seemed down to earth type of guy. It's rare to come across someone like George and I know he will be missed. Best wishes to you George and hope you choose to return.

Re: George Blake - Prime Gears out of Business

Sorry to hear about this as well.
Family comes first.
These trucks are a great hobby and I like the Sy/Ty guys/gals ALOT.
Hope you find a interest in them again and can look at it from a hobby fun thing instead of a buisness.
Some people you just can't make happy no matter what you do for them.
A lesson that takes awhile to learn.
That's why I call/e-mail or tell someone when I've got a positive experience from a vendor or buisness.Makes everyone feel good.
Best of luck in whatever you do!
Scott~

I'm sorry I never got the monies together to have you do your magic on a 4L80E.
Thank you for all that you have done for the community.
Also thank you for designing a solution for a transmission that will hold up to these beasts.
I'll PM you my number George, please call me any time you need anything.
God bless you and your family George and good luck to you in the future.

George's 4L80 donation came at a time when Nats was struggling financially, and our ability to raffle tickets for it to raise money and keep registration costs low was crucial in Nats continuing - there likely wouldn't have been a Nats X without George, or at least it would've cost everyone more to register which would've hurt attendance. Our entire community owes great thanks to George for his expertise, hard work, and generosity, as well as to his family for the sacrifices they've made so he could do what he did for the SyTy world.

Good luck George - Dad and I will miss you and your family at Nats this year.

That's not the one I sold. Mike has the correct part numbers. The setups I did were my own request from them and they have they're own part number.
That is the correct place though. They do REALLY good work. Took a long time going through different sources to finally get everything just right.

The one JSM installed on Mike HARDman's Ty was from this place. It was a nice piece.

Felt the need to post again regarding George.... I just looked at the 'awards' page on his public profile.... seems like with what all he has done for the SyTy community, that he should have had a couple of stacks of gold bars there. I've already noticed the loss of his knowledge in some threads. We sure miss you George :(
