How is your intercooler pump working?

I am writing this to maybe help anyone that might not know any better like me. I had replaced my pump with a Johnson and had thought that it did not pump well at all. Well I just finished placing a atr aux intercooler and refilled the system with coolent. Got the same thing little or no coolent movement. I could hear the pump running but no movement. Then I realized what the problem was. The pump was running dry. It was not getting a prime to start pumping the coolent. I know there must be better ways to prime it but......... and please don't make fun of me. I took a piece on heater hose and put it over the filler of the upper intercooler. Had to push down pretty had to make it seal. Then I used lung power to get the coolent to the pump. It took about three refilles to get the system full. But I can tell you it pumps the coolent out the upper intercooler with the cap off now.

I put mine where the stock airbox used to be. After the upper IC, before the lower Heat Exchanger. Acts as a 'pusher' instead of the stock 'puller'. Self primes, works great.

A good way to tell if you have flow is keep the intercooler cap off and then turn the pump on. See if the level of the coolant rises inside the intercooler. if it does that then your ready to go brother.

We got ours working this weekend the same way. But when we blew through the lines a big glob of rust/gunk/goop came out the lower hose first. Then we hooked the garden hose up to it and let it run for awhile until all the fluid looked clear. Finally hooked one side up and ran the hose in the other with the cap off until it ran steady water out the cap - quickly jammed the hose onto the upper ic fitting and put the cap on.

Upper ic is nice and cool now - so is the upper intake. Very happy with it.

My pump is located below the battery tray, so it took some time to purge, but it works great it also helps if the lower CAC drain is opened to allow any air out, then close it when you see water/coolant.

I had problems initally try to get the pump working with the ATR Aux IC. I ended up using a hand vacuum pump to get the air pockets out.
