Well, Have been trying to get my Sy done now for quite some time like everyone. Its never done. I had several upgrades going all at once. Motor rebuilt w/422 cam, edelbrock intake 65#ers, you know basic stuff along with the 4l80e conversion, JSM coilovers and Q1A's, Fuel cell, custom A2A, Anyway, Took me a while (1 yr). I started a new job about 2 months ago out at Geek Squad City.
My boss has this fast car he talks about to everyone ALL THE TIME !!! I couldn't help myself I listened for the first few days seeing I was new and an outsider. He was like its got a bigger turbo, better fuel system, bla, bla, bla.... I did a little research and found out it was a E-shift with a 2JZ supra motor car. Wow, I didn't know that. So I started playing dumb and asking questions
Then I started right in. Well I have a S-10 with a V6 that will run circles around that thing.
He ask me about it and I didn't say much about it. I had to listen to this talk about how he was going to spank me in front of everyone at work for the next couple weeks. Well Geek squad city has a little over 600 people there during the day. The word got around that Travis (my boss) was going to race me. I had several people asking me now about what I had. I finally told a few people that it was in fact a Syclone and I had a little bit of stuff done to it.
I finished it up last week and finally started tuning it in with the JSM crew help. Its not tuned in by a long shot 12.5:1 at idle and only 18-19 PSI. But man-o-man this thing is going to be a beast. 0-60 is crazy right now already. The sheet metal intake and new Precision 67BB turbo is awsome ! ! !
Back to the story, I decided to drive it into work Friday (teh 23rd) and park it right up at the front door so everyone had to see it and the smack talking was ON ! ! ! At first brake 9am I walked outside with a group of people including Travis to check out the truck. I popped the hood and he about fell over. I had people with their cell phones taking pics
we all went back inside and Travis was talking about how that truck could not beat his IS300. I simply said to him and the group he was with " at Lunch its on...." Well lunch time rolled around and we all went outside and see if Travis was going to run. He showed up and started talking about my truck again. I ask him if he wanted a ride to his car so we could line up. he accapt the ride and was parked about 300-400' away in the South lot. All the people that heard about this was outside watching at the side of the building. Now let me tell you this, there is a nice long straight stretch out in fron of our building 3 lanes wide on a new road with not alot of business there yet. Perfect spot for this. I proceeded to the line waiting on his sorry a$$ to get there. Once he did I had the window down and was telling him to go whenever he was ready and I would start off his leaving.
He brake torqued his IS300 and the rear wheels were turning over ever so slightly. He was ready. Of course I was already setting there with the brake set and ready at about 5 PSI. He finally let off the brake and before you can finish this sentence I was out in front and pulling hard by 5-7 cars
I have no idea how fast I was going due to the fact the speedo only goes to 120
I had him by 1/2 the distance to the end by the time I let off. We turned around and went back to the lot. Everyone was a hoopin and holloring saying, Travis got beat by a truck. Thats all I heard for the rest of the day.
He looked sad for the rest of the day and finally before leaving ask me if I could find a syclone for him
He did have one other thing to say about the race though. He said I would not have had a chance from a roll. I said lets see seeing we were going the same direction on the interstate 4 lane wide on the way home. Thats another story and I will type it out tomorrow for you.
All I can say is I can't wait to get back to work tomorrow and hear the storys now
John
PS: I LOVE THIS TRUCK
