I was seriously just thinking about doing this today. I think it looks good.
Debating on changing the wheels on my Typhoon and came across this old thread. Right now I have a set of pre-production 1989 ZR1 wheels 17x9.5 front and 17x11 rear. I want to have the swirl in the middle machined out to look more like stock syclone wheels but haven't been able to find anyone to do it.
I was seriously just thinking about doing this today. I think it looks good.

Looks great with the center cut out. A few of us had thought about doing it to a set a few years ago and never did it, got different wheels. I agree with your logic. Looks stock ish, good tire size, center cap.
You can do it yourself. Just be patient. If you want them done and refinished, cut , powdercoated, let us know.

The standard ZR1's painted white with a polished lip. 17x9.5 with a 275/40 and 17x11 with a 315/35.

ROH "Impala" wheels in stock size and offset.
The stock wheels have a difference in offset of 28mm (41mm front and 13mm rear). If you want any four of the same wheel to fit like stock, you need 28mm (1.1") spacers in the rear.
