Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

I put up installed pics a long time ago and warned everybody . Sorry you got duped afterwards . Maybe now everyone is ready for a partial refund since at least renz saved his ass on the brackets . Has anyone fit a set on a ty to see if they even work yet ?

I went out for some pics and would have to argue that this cable fits no syclones . I was looking forward to installing these but couldnt figure them out any which way.
Hits on the small end and at the hump it gets bigger . Should work with some dremel action .

Cables are side by side the whole way
IMG_3159.jpg

Unless you wound the cable up to fit this clip in the hole , the shielded portion is too long
IMG_3156.jpg

The cable itself has along way to go until the connection
IMG_3157.jpg

Even on the other side , the unshielded cable portion has to have some good length.

I'll send everything back to you mike ,

I take the bracket and cables once everything get work out. I want e brake to function as design by GM as I park on hills and feel more secure if the truck doesn't roll away.

Cables too short?

don't you think i'd post that if i did?

I just bought a set of the brakes for mockup...so i'll be able to get the cable situation figured out in the next few weeks. Hopefully i'm moving my truck to a wrenchable location very soon...so the first thing i'll do is put the brakes on and see how the cables work out. Bare minimum the clevis will have to be opened up on them a little to fit over the ebrake arm of the caliper backing plate (according to MRKING).

Don't worry...i'll take lots of pics and keep everyone privvy to my snails pace on this project. Things take long when you're doing everying in groups of 50.

i got the cables from HRV6 and the brackets from you. i don't see how HRv6's cables will work; they're just too short. does anyone have any installed pics on their syclone?
Apparently this is the new found issue of this setup. I don't know if the original setup from jjorgenson was ever installed on a Syclone, or if anyone has successfully installed these cables on a Typhoon. I want to test fit it on my truck, maybe i'll attempt it this week. I think i'm finally able to wrench again w/o too much pain. My only issue is i'm possibly moving my truck in a couple weeks and not sure i want to make it un-rollable. But we'll see....i'll have a bunch of syty'ers at my house on thursday night so maybe i'll make them install it all for me

First of all I would like to thank Renz for helping out.
Second, Tibedeau, you owe money to everyone for this poor attempt w/o any responsibility. I hope the public ridicule continues.

Since no one has posted on how they made this work, (poorly), I will go ahead then.

Yes the cables are of the wrong length. They do not match the location of the clips also.
Most will notice that the 1/8" rope cable clips/ties are not included in the GP list.

After installing, I realize there are no return springs.
I took mine off the donor LS1, the longer spring is off a stock SY.
These should have been included and won't work otherwise.

I does work. It will hold the Syclone in drive. Still not happy.
I had to bend the bracket inward to clear the 9.5" rims.
I also elected to bolt on top of the existing nut for clearance and to expedite the 1.5 years that this projects has been dragging on.
Also got rid of the annoying squeak I had when the E-brake shoe was touching the drum.
The springs do a good job on returning the E-brake, but not enough to return the E-brake pedal to the full up position
...unless I forgot to install something since its been over a year.
I probably will add another spring to the cable equalizer to help that out.

I guess I will have to get another avatar now....

The original setup was installed on several different Sy's if I remember correctly. I'm running the cables that I had made on my typhoon (with the stock equalizer and no cable clamps, etc). I can only assume these cables must be different

Well im not sure why all of a sudden the cables are wrong, i used the same exact dimensions from the first GP. When i took over the GP from jjorgenson he emailed me the cadd drawings for the brackets and a diagram with all the dimensions and part numbers to make the cables and the cable supplier he used.

Heres the diagram he drew up and sent to me.

Now im not trying to get on here and make excuses, just making sure everybody has the facts and were not going off assumptions. I have a big bag of springs that are for return springs the cable supplier sent me after i got the cables from them and while trying to get everybodys kits out i did forget to put the springs in there, and would be more than happy to send them out, just PM me with your current mailing addy and ill get them out this weekend. I have no use for them at this point. Id like somebody from the original GP to measure the cables they got and see what the dimensions are, as far as i remember the only trucks with working ebrakes used modified f-body cables if i remember correctly.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

I forgot to add that the e-brake hook had to receive some angle grinder action to fit the cable eye.

The rough measurement of the cable appears to match that drawing.

So how do I order the LS1 e brake bracket for a Syclone?

Do you have to use a F-body e-brake cable then modify the cable to work?

Thanks

You send someone 200 bucks for a group purchase and then wait a year and a half.
If you want them to promise "you'll get them in two weeks" once a month it will cost 20 more.
The cables won't fit and won't have necessary springs because he forgot since he has his own more important projects to do. Excuses are free and frequent.

But besides that, Renz may have more brackets.
Previous owners have been modifying the LS1 brackets to work.
Not sure about the cables.

How about YOU gladly ship them to EVERYONE that got the cables so RENZ and the others don't have to PAY for YOUR screw up...AGAIN. This is amazing.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

So I finally added a cable clamp to the parking brake pedal return spring.

braked.jpg

It returns the brake pedal and no "parking brake" light.

I may also suggest to leave the parking brake set over night to remove the memory of the previous cable position(s). I also had to add a few more turns to tighten up the cable to proper load/unloaded tension.

Re: LS1 Ebrake kits...New GP

well, i might have a solution for the cables to make the stock ones work. i have an willwood discbrake system on the back of my sy. altough it has brackets on them, and i don't know how they normally are on f-bodies or corvettes. if someone can post a pic? i will take some pics tomorrow how i made the stock cables work.

thanks, i'll post them on photobucket, but i would like to see some pics from other setups...just of the lever that needs to be pulled on the e-brakeand the bracket at the discs since i don't know my brackets are the same.
