oil switch

my dad is the mechanic not me and this is what i know

there is an oil switch that your fuel pump relay goes through
this is a safety thing meaning if your oil pump goes out and you have no oil pressure
the fuel pump is shut off through this switch

question is has anyone else been having problems with this switch?
i have replaced it twice already and my oil pump is functioning and still reads on the gauge but is still shutting off my fuel pump.

if anyone else knows anything about this kinda thing or has any ideas let me know
thankyou

Re: oil switch

the oil sending unit is a backup if the relay fails so it will still start. in other words if the relay is good, the oil sending unit doesnt do anything with the fuel pump

it doesnt kill the truck if the oil pressure is too low. supply 12 v to the test lead by the distributor and reply back with what happens
